After a guest wore a “skimpy” and “revealing” dress to her wedding, a frustrated bride put her on blast on Reddit
The bride explained that her wedding had an “elegant” theme and that she warned her guests, but the invited “family friend” did not follow directions

A newlywed is upset about the “skimpy” dress that a “family friend” wore to her “elegant” wedding.
Taking to Reddit’s “Wedding Shaming” forum, the 24-year-old bride put a 19-year-old guest — whom she referred to by the fake name “Ariana” — on blast for the dress that she wore to her recent nuptials.
“Ariana has always dressed in a revealing and skimpy way, which I knew. But when I invited her to my wedding, the invitation clearly said to dress elegant. I thought she had the common sense to dress appropriately for the occasion,” she wrote, adding, “Well, I was wrong.”
The frustrated bride noted that the guest wore a “Poster Girl-style” dress, saying it was even worse than she could have imagined.

She shared a photo of the alleged dress in her post. It was a sheer black minidress that featured a tiger-print design and ties across a plunging neckline. There were also matching gloves.
Her photo was accompanied by screenshots of a text message exchange that the bride and guest had.
“Why would you show up wearing what you wore to my wedding?? Did it not say on the invitation to show up wearing something elegant since that was the theme?” A second message read: “I’m not trying to be a b—- or anything but I just wanna know why you would do that.”
“Cause I can???” the girl responded. “Is that like a problem? Can I not dress cute anymore in peace?”
The bride’s post led to a spirited debate in the replies.
Many came out in favor of the bride.
“I was reading the text exchange and was expecting it to be about a dress that was maybe a little more low cut than OP [original poster] would have liked but otherwise fit the theme. But that dress isn’t appropriate to wear anywhere other than the club,” one Redditor wrote.
Another referred to the outfit as being “Temu lingerie level gear.”
“That is not ‘cute,’ ” another poster replied. “That is ‘getting hammered at the club sexy’. With her history something overly sexy was to be expected, but not this bad. I was expecting plunging neckline, thigh slit and backless in maybe a floor length satin.”

The comment prompted a response from yet another upset poster: “You’re too generous, that’s a ‘standing on a street corner looking for clients’ dress.”
Some people pointed out that the outfit actually added some excitement to the wedding.
“Look, the perfect wedding has food, fun, romance, and one ghastly person for everyone to enjoy gossiping about on the drive home. A better favor than a candle or a plant or those Jordan almonds or whatever. She gave your guests a delightful gift,” they wrote.
Another agreed, replying, “My favorite wedding games ‘who is the sloppiest drunk’ and ‘who is dressed most inappropriately.’ “

However, some people thought that the bride was in the wrong based on her response.
One person opined that she “accomplished nothing with these messages. The friend is probably enjoying that she made the bride ‘jealous’ on her wedding day. Next time IGNORE.”
“Might be unpopular, but I disagree with your approach,” another person wrote. “She obviously dressed for clubbing and not for a wedding, she looked innapropriate and was probably silently mocked by most guests, but your text is rude as well. What’s done is done, decide whether you want a friendship or not with this girl but let it go and focus on whether you enjoyed your day or not.”
