A bride had to get creative when she needed to pee before her wedding ceremony.
Tara Mulroy got married in a Colorado mountain wedding ceremony on Sept. 7, 2024. About 30 minutes before her ceremony began, she realized that she needed to pee — badly. But there were major obstacles in the bride’s way. “The restroom was a bit of a hike,” plus her wedding dress was “definitely too big to get into a bathroom stall” and couldn’t be taken off by herself.
“So the bride, being the hilarious and carefree person she is, decided to pop a squat instead and asked me to film it,” Mulroy’s wedding videographers, Josh and Mare Knighten, tell PEOPLE. “We all cracked up, and it turned into one of the most memorable moments of the day!”
Maid of honor Jamie Dagg alongside bridesmaids Emma Friedland, Kinley Jett, Nessa Fried, Josie Einsel, and Wesley Cooper all came to Mulroy’s rescue. The bride’s best friends led her to a nearby bush and held up her custom mermaid-style gown designed by Lauren Elaine as she peed. The “dramatic” dress had “an eight-foot train and hundreds of yards of tulle.”
Although the videographers had never been asked to film a bride pee before, Mulroy’s bridal party seemed unsurprised that she would do such a thing.
“They weren’t thrown off one bit — we’re outdoor girlies through and through!” Mulroy says. “We spend our summers camping and rafting, and our winters snowboarding or skiing, so when nature calls, we’re used to making it work in wild places.”
She continues, “This moment was definitely a little more complicated, considering the hundreds of yards of tulle involved, but my girls were the ultimate team. No hesitation — they each grabbed a part of the dress and held it above my head like a tent, giggling away with all the encouragement I could ask for. Girlhood is a superpower!”
Mulroy says that peeing at “the top of the mountain might’ve been the ideal location” after all.
Her “hilarious” bathroom solution has gone viral on social media, as footage of the situation was posted by the videographers twice on TikTok. The Knightens first posted the video on the platform in 2024 and it amassed 13 million views. Most recently, they shared the clip on May 5, and it already has 200,000 views.

In the video, Mulroy laughs as she pees. Her poofy dress maintained her privacy. After finishing her business, she turns to her bridesmaids and says, “Okay, I finished!” As she stands up, one woman asks her, “You want some TP (toilet paper) or are you good?” Mulroy replies, “I’m good. I think we’re doing a little drip dry situation.”
“Word spread quickly with friends, all of whom came up to me at some point to talk logistics,” Mulroy tells PEOPLE. “I also had so many random people sending it to me, the video on social media. Family and friends found it hysterical [that] 13 million people watched me finagle my wedding dress on top of a mountain to pee! My friends and family weren’t surprised (I can be pretty animated a lot of the time), but they were definitely entertained.”
“It ended up being one of my favorite stories from the day,” she adds.
