On Reddit’s “Wedding Shaming” forum, an exotic dancer revealed that she was uninvited to her sister-in-law’s wedding after the groom’s best man tried to book her to perform at the bachelor party
She said that she turned down the offer, but the bride got upset when she learned about it
The Redditor described her sister-in-law’s fiancé as a “creep,” saying that she didn’t see them lasting long
A bride disinvited her sister-in-law and brother from her wedding over an incident related to the bachelor party.
Taking to the “Wedding Shaming” forum on Reddit, the siser-in-law explained that she works as an “exotic dancer” and performs “racy group routines to racy songs in as little clothes as possible.”
She said it wasn’t an issue with her husband’s family, and that they were “mostly” accepting of her line of work. That changed when the best man in her sister-in-law’s wedding tried to book her as a performer for the party.
She wrote that the best man “approached me asking if [her troupe] would perform at his bachelor party, saying my SIL would be more comfortable with the entertainment being people she knows wouldn’t try to sleep with her fiancé.” She said that she knew the best man was lying and “declined.”
Instead, the Redditor gave him the “contact info for a club we work with that intermediates the booking of its performers.” Things got out of hand when the bride found out about the offer.

“She went ballistic, accusing me of trying to sleep with her man,” the woman wrote. “Saying I was always flirting with him and trying to use the performance as an excuse to get handsy with him, and threatening to tell my husband that I’ve been cheating.”
The poster continued, writing, “I tried to calmly explain to her that I declined the initial offer, I’ll decline any further offer, and that I want nothing to do with her fiancé.”
“I’m happy in my marriage and my work is just my work,” she added.

However, her upset sister-in-law “barely” let her “get a word in,” and she then “uninvited” her and her husband to the wedding. After the fact, the poster said that her husband called both the best man and her sister-in-law’s fiancé to tell them off over the incident.
She added that her parents-in-law have been trying to talk to the bride to get her to change her mind.
“I’m glad none of them believe this nonsense, but that wedding would be hell for everyone involved if we went,” she opined, adding that she thought her sister-in-law’s fiancé was a “creep” and doesn’t “respect” her.
“This whole situation screams to me that the fiancé thinks I’m hot and wants to ‘get a piece of that’ without technically cheating,” she wrote. “I give this marriage a year at best.”
Several people in the comments agreed with the Redditor that it would be odd to be hired by sister-in-law’s fiancé. One person wrote, “I’m a burlesque dancer and would be super creeped out if I was specifically sought out to perform for an in-law’s partner.”

“There are so many other performers available, seeking out future family is so weird,” they added. “Not at all your fault that the fiancé is a creep and seems like a blessing in disguise to get uninvited.”
Another commenter chimed in, “The best man is an idiot. In what universe did he think that would be a good idea?”
“Decline the wedding invite even if you are reinvited because neither the SIL or her fiancé respect boundaries,” another person advised.
