The Democratic National Committee (DNC) planned to give away free tacos from 12pm to 2pm Tuesday in an attempt to mock President Donald Trump, but they ran out of tacos halfway through.
The DNC rented the Vagabond Taco truck and planned to plant it outside the Republican National Committee headquarters Tuesday, Axios first reported. They ended up about a block away, near St. Peter’s Church.
The stunt was in an effort to publicize a new anti-Trump slogan: Trump Always Chickens Out, or TACO as an acronym.
The truck had a large banner with the slogan featuring a picture of Trump in a chicken costume.

But, despite the DNC‘s plans to hold the event from 12-2, they were fresh out of tacos by 1pm.

While earlier crowds were mostly dispersed, a few disappointed stragglers remained.
“We just came to see what’s going on,” a woman who identified herself only as Kelly, told the Caller.
Kelly, who said she saw the truck on social media, expressed disappointment that she wasn’t able to get a taco.
The event’s organizers promised to contract Vagabond again, telling the operator, “We’ll definitely use you again in the future” as they packed up the sign featuring Trump.
