A 24-year-old man isn’t planning to go to bat for his girlfriend.
The boyfriend ran to Reddit’s “Am I the A——” forum to reveal he wants to ditch picking up his 22-year-old girlfriend of two months because he scored a ticket to a New York Mets game from one of his guy friends.
“She just went on vacation for five days, and she’s coming back on Tuesday,” he explained. “We made plans for me to pick her up from the airport and hang out that night. This was fine with me until I got a text from my boy late last night telling me he has secured three free tickets for the Mets game on Tuesday night — BEHIND HOME PLATE.”

Now, he’s wondering if he’d be an a—— for ditching her for the game.
“I haven’t told her yet, but will plan to tell her later in the day when I finish work. It’s not like I don’t plan to see her the next day or this weekend when we can hang out, but she can tend to be unreasonable at times,” he said.
The majority of Redditors did not respect his desire to bail on her.
“[You are the a——]. A major one too,” one person replied. “Normally bailing on your plans with anyone is a jerk move, but this is a ride from the airport home. She’s going to be tired and irritated already and then she needs to scramble to get a ride home.”

Feeling the heat from the keyboard critics, the man clarified that she wouldn’t be alone if he didn’t provide the planned ride for her.
“Me picking her up is our own thing. She went on a family vacation and is returning with her family,” he wrote. “Their car is at the parking garage, and if I wouldn’t pick her up, she would have a ride lmao.”

The boyfriend’s clarification didn’t seem to sway the negative opinions of him.
“Still failing Boyfriend 101 in epic fashion,” another person said. “This is even worse. Her whole family is going to know what you did and know she’s dating a loser. You are going to humiliate her in front of her family.”
