Blondie’s Debbie Harry confirmed that David Bowie once asked if he could “f—” her
Harry said Bowie was a “wonderful artist” and “person”

Blondie’s Debbie Harry once had a risqué encounter with David Bowie — and she’s opening up about how that conversation went down.
In an interview published with Vanity Fair on Tuesday, July 1, Harry, 80, was asked if it was true that Bowie once exposed himself to her — and she said “yes.”
“And it was very nice,” she told the outlet.
Then, Harry confirmed that when he asked “Can I f— you?,” she replied, “I don’t know, can you?”
“I was such a smartass. I regretted saying that, because he was such a wonderful artist and a wonderful person,” she said, adding: “I was just being punk; I worked very hard at being punk.”
Harry first revealed the incident in her 2019 memoir Face It. In an interview with The Times in October 2019, she said he “pulled his cock out” after she gave him some free drugs.
“I guess he was trying to say thank you. It was very funny,” she said, confirming that she didn’t mind.
She continued, “I guess I was sort of flattered, you know? He’s one of the great men that I admire in the music world, clearly a genius.”

Blondie toured with Bowie and Iggy Pop in 1977, and Harry has long been outspoken about her admiration for the late “Space Oddity” singer.
After he died of cancer in January 2016, Harry released a lengthy statement in his honor, according to Rolling Stone.
“Who doesn’t love Bowie? A visionary artist, musician, actor, a completely renaissance man who has given us a long list of songs like ‘Heroes,’ ‘Rebel Rebel,’ ‘Young Americans,’ ‘Diamond Dogs,’ ‘The Jean Genie,’ and some memorable film performances like The Man Who Fell to Earth, Basquiat, Labyrinth, The Hunger. I can’t say enough things about David Bowie to show how much I love him,” she said at the time.
Harry also credited Bowie for much of Blondie’s success.
“When the Low album was out and Iggy Pop was about to tour, David played keyboards in Iggy’s band. They asked Blondie to open for them, and, as they say, the rest is history,” she said.
Added Harry: “Without this visionary and his friend Iggy Pop where would Blondie be today? Silly question and one that can’t be answered really, but there is no doubt in my mind that Bowie played a big part in our future successes. As for now, love you David Bowie. xx”
