Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani both performed at the 2025 American Music Awards, but their respective performances were pre-taped, leaving some fans upset. Shelton got wind of some of the negative chatter surrounding his “appearance” at the show, which was held in Las Vegas, on May 26, and shared his take on social media.
“Just now seeing these stories about Gwen and I pretaping our performances for the AMA’s. We came and performed when the show asked us to.. Really nothing else to say,” an apparently unbothered Shelton wrote on X on May 27.
Fans reacted to Shelton’s post, letting him know that they support him and his wife, and some even advised him to ignore the haters.

“Don’t worry bout em, haters gonna hate, yall gorgeous,” one person wrote.
“I think when people are genuine, kind and unproblematic like you and Gwen, people just try to find something to be upset about or create drama for whatever reason,” someone else added.
“Pay no attention BS! You and GS made the AMA’s worth watching. You two are becoming Icons! We all get to come along for the ride, and it’s freaking awesome,” a third comment read.
“Seriously?? There are way more important things people need to focus on. You’re both amazing performers & entertainers who leave it all on the stage. You 2 aren’t the only artists who’ve done this & won’t be the last. We love you & @gwenstefani,” a fourth X user said.
At a pre-taping, Shelton performed his hit song, “Stay Country or Die Tryin’,” which aired during Monday night’s show. For her part, Stefani sang three different songs. While some fans at home may have not noticed that the performances weren’t live, those in the audience watched on the big screen.
