Rosé took three years off from the Met Gala after making her debut in 2021. But now, the Blackpink star is back. Rosé returned to the Met stairs, wearing a plunging black suit with a dramatic train from Saint Laurent by Anthony Vaccarello to reflect the “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style” theme. She accessorized with an oversized pendant necklace.
On the red carpet, Rosé revealed that the suit was tailor-made for her by creative director Anthony Vaccarello. She finished off the look with a pair of red heels to add a pop of color.
She also shared she’s looking forward to reuniting with her Blackpink bandmates, Jennie and Lisa, inside the event. “I’m really, really excited to see the girls. I was just with them in the studio in Korea, so, it’s nice to just have family here,” she said.
Rosé’s year is only going to get bigger this summer. After releasing her solo album Rosie in December, the K-pop singer has more music coming with her Blackpink bandmates Lisa, Jennie, and Jisoo. The group will be going on tour starting this July.
“We’ve got new music coming up, and so I feel like that’s gonna be a whole different approach to how we storytell this next tour,” she added on the red carpet.
In February, Rosé spoke to The Cut about the group’s decision to perform again after taking time apart to work on solo projects. “We just knew there was no reason for us to stop it, right?” she said. “As much as we all needed some time to go out and explore and be our own people, we still have business left to do. We’ve got to do some more damage.”
The quartet took great care when discussing the decision: “It was a healthy process of talking honestly about what we need and want in our lives and making sure we’re all happy at the end of the day,” Rosé said. She added that now that they’re back together, “we will be coming out with new music soon.”
Rosé showed her support for bandmates Lisa and Jennie last month, attending their solo performances at Coachella. Rosé went viral for her backstage “interview” with Lisa, where she asked her friend if she had any special stories about her time onstage.
Lisa replied, “I think they all noticed it, because the wind was so…it dries my lips [so I wet my lips in-between song lyrics]. I think it showed, I think it showed.”
