Blackpink’s Jennie Handles a Wardrobe Malfunction Like a Boss During Solo Coachella Performance

A quick wardrobe mishap couldn’t hold Jennie back from her 2025 Coachella performance.

In a video circulating on social media, the 29-year-old Blackpink member-turned-solo artist could be seen struggling with her form-fitting leather jacket during her performance.

As she was mid-song, Jennie’s backup dancers could be seen helping her pull off a leather coat with tight sleeves — so tight, in fact, that they barely fit over her hands. After a few seconds of tugging, the musician moved to pull the coat off herself, and it took her a few more seconds of struggling with the jacket before she could fully reveal the sexy cutout tank top and cape she was wearing underneath.

The singer also paired her Western-influenced look with red shorts, a black belt, a cowboy hat and dark sunglasses. According to WWD, the whole look came from Mugler and featured archival pieces from the fashion house.

During her performance last weekend, Jennie tried out another look that fit in with the Western trend as she rocked a crimson crocodile-embossed jacket and matching bra top from Georges Hobeika’s fall 2025 collection, which she teamed with matching micro shorts

The singer added a pair of tan thigh-high boots, sunglasses and, of course, another cowgirl hat.

Although Jennie (whose full name is Jennie Kim) brought out some special guests on stage with her during her performance weekend one, including Kali Uchis, the artist performed a setlist that featured tons of hits from her debut album solo Ruby weekend two.

Jennie made her original debut at Coachella with the rest of her South Korean girl group Blackpink — which also includes Jisoo (Kim Jisoo), Rosé (Park Chaeyoung) and Lisa (Lalisa Manoban) — in 2019.

The group also performed in 2023, and Jennie rocked a number of themed looks for the show — including a skin-baring white bodysuit with an asymmetrical skirt as well as a baby pink mesh corset top with matching shorts that featured crystal piping and a lace train. For that look, the Idol actress also wore matching leather combat boots, designed with the “DG” logo and a teeny-tiny moto jacket with lots of bling.

Speaking to Vogue last year, the pop star opened up about her personal sense of style, sharing that she always tries to put her own twist on a classic look when she dresses up for major events like Coachella.

“I was inspired by the looks of style icons from the ’60s, like Edie Sedgwick and Twiggy, who led the trends of the time,” Jennie told the magazine in November 2024, opening up about a recent collaboration with Chanel. “I reinterpreted their signature pop, color combinations and modern styles in a contemporary way to create my own look.”

“For events like this, I like to take the elegant and feminine styles that the original models wore and put my own twist on them,” she added, “sometimes going for a funky, cool, or chic vibe.”
