Billie Lourd chose to share a sentimental moment she once shared with her late mother, Carrie Fisher, to honor the legendary actress this Mother’s Day.
Lourd, a mom of two herself, took to Instagram with a touching tribute for the Star Wars star on Sunday, May 10, sharing a sweet snapshot of her lifting one of her own kids out of the frame alongside a snapshot of Fisher cradling her as a baby and a screenshot showing Fisher’s own recounting of the tale in question — that when the two were watching the episode of Grey’s Anatomy where Meredith refuses to tell anyone else she’s pregnant until she can tell Cristina, because Cristina is her “person,” Lourd sweetly turned to her mom and said, “You’re my person.”
In the caption of the photoset, Lourd reflected, “Ⓜ️🅾️Ⓜ️There is absolutely nothing in the world more magical than being a mother to my two tiny humans. Being their mom fills me with an indescribable joy and sense of purpose I could’ve never imagined even existed. But there would be no Mother’s Day for me without my mother. She was my person.”
But there is one regret she holds onto regarding her childhood, which she revealed as she continued, “When I was little she used to breathe in the scent of my head like it was oxygen and I would always wriggle away from her and laugh. But now I regret any wriggling I ever did because now I do the same to my kids. I wish I could wear the scent of their heads like an oxygen mask. All you kids out there let your moms sniff your heads today!? It may sound weird but it’s not?! Happy Mother’s Day but as I say every year Mother’s Day isn’t just solely the hallmark happy so happy / griefy / complicated / numb / lonely / insert pretty much any adjective on the spectrum here. You are not alone. Sending my love out there to anyone who needs it today ❤️.”
