Bill Hader’s daughters only had one thing in mind while they visited the studio 8H for the first time — to meet Marcello Hernandez.
The Saturday Night Live alum, 47, appeared on friend Seth Meyers’ talk show, Late Night with Seth Meyers, on Tuesday, Aug. 5 and shared that his three daughters — Hannah, 15, Harper, 13, and Hayley, 10, whom he shares with ex-wife Maggie Carey – were standing backstage.
“I’m always happy to see you, but today was extra special — all three of your daughters backstage,” Meyers, 51, said, before Hader replied, “Yes, all three of my daughters are backstage.”
Asked if it’s a “daddy-daughter” trip to New York, the Cat in the Hat star confirmed that it was. “That is right. That’s why I’m here,” Hader explained. “And they’ve never seen 8H, where I worked.”
“Great. Right down the hall, where we did SNL,” Meyers said, referring to the time the two spent on the NBC late-night sketch comedy series.
“And I showed them 8H, and I was like ‘This is where we did Stefon,’ which you and I [worked on]. And all they say is like, ‘Where is Domingo? Where is Domingo?’” Hader joked of current SNL breakout star Marcello Hernandez’s iconic character. He added, “We watched Happy Gilmore 2 and they’re like, ‘There’s Domingo! There’s Domingo!’ And I’m like, ‘Okay.’ ”

Later in the conversation, Hader made sure to clarify that he did find Hernandez’s character quite funny. “Domingo was really funny, by the way. I just wanted to say, I think that thing is hilarious,” he shared.
“I think Domingo’s great, but once my kids love him that much, I won’t like Domingo anymore,” Meyers joked.
Although Hader doesn’t often speak about his daughters publicly, in March 2022 he shared that the reason he doesn’t talk about his dating life is because his girls didn’t want him to. “They just want me to be their dad,” Hader told The Hollywood Reporter. “They just want me to sit and watch Encanto over and over and over again. So that’s what I do.”
