Beyoncé made her Cowboy Carter tour opener an emotional family affair in Los Angeles.
The Grammy-winning pop icon kicked off her highly anticipated tour Monday night at the city’s SoFi Stadium, where she welcomed daughters Blue Ivy, 13, and Rumi, 7, on stage with her for a segment that briefly led to the 43-year-old pausing mid-song to beam over her family.
In fan-shared video from the concert, Beyoncé is seen singing the Cowboy Carter ballad “Protector” while Blue Ivy stands behind her, with Rumi holding her mom’s hand and excitedly waving to the audience.
“I will be your protector, want to be your protector,” Beyoncé sang on the track, which also features vocals from Rumi on the album version.
As Beyoncé continued to sing, Rumi turned around and hugged her mother in the middle of the song, forcing the performer to pause, smile, and embrace her daughter before Blue Ivy and Rumi turned around and walked toward the back of the stage.

Prior to Rumi’s appearance on Monday night, Beyoncé had long worked with Blue Ivy for live events, with the teen previously dancing on stage with her mom during the Renaissance album tour throughout 2023.
Beyoncé shares Blue Ivy and twins Rumi and Sir with her husband, rapper Jay-Z, whom she married in 2008.
In February, after Cowboy Carter won Album of the Year at the 2025 Grammys, Beyoncé admittedly forgot to thank Rumi for her contributions to the album — but later thanked her in a follow-up interview with Entertainment Tonight.

“Rumi — who’s on the album, my youngest daughter — she was watching,” Beyoncé told the show. “I forgot to thank her so I get to thank her now. Thank you, Rumi.”
Beyoncé’s Cowboy Carter opener marked the first of five planned shows in Los Angeles, with the tour traveling to several other cities across North America and Europe through its final stop in Las Vegas in July.
“I have the best fans in the world. I love you so much,” Beyoncé said at the end of the first Los Angeles show, per a press release. “We worked so hard to make this as perfect as we could for y’all. I hope y’all had fun.”
