Unless you’ve been living under a rock the last week or two in America, you’ve probably seen or at least heard about Sydney Sweeney‘s instantly infamous ad campaign for American Eagle. In the commercial, the stunning actress is decked out in denim, while her voiceover explains that “genes are passed down from parent to offspring,” before declaring, “My jeans are blue.”
Get it? Genes vs. jeans. We get it, and it seems like everyone has something to say about it — including the President of the United States. Now Real Housewives of New York City star Bethenny Frankel is showing her support for Sydney — in the most Bethenny way possible.
The SkinnyGirl guru posted a video of herself getting dressed in a denim jumpsuit, but instead of a typical soundtrack, she used Sydney’s audio from the campaign. The only caption she added was, “They call me MISS conJEANiality,” a nod to the 2000 Sandra Bullock classic Miss Congeniality, and perhaps a low-key wink at the “pageant” of public opinion surrounding the ad controversy?

She’s not saying she’s taking a side, but she’s definitely making a statement that people may be taking this way too seriously with her “lol” hashtag.
It’s clear that fans are divided in the comments both on her TikTok account and her Instagram (where she also shared the video). Some are in clear support, but worried that the so-called cancel culture crowd will come for her, with comments like, “Watch out you may get cancelled from people who can’t discern marketing from politics🙄🙄🙄but you look great,” and, “Oh Bethenny you’re about to make a lot of people BIG mad.”
Of course there were some “BIG mad” comments like, “Unfortunately, If this means what I think it means, I’m going to have to back out of here. I’ve always liked you Bethany, but I can’t support.”
The vast majority however were quick to support her AND Sweeney, with reactions like, “Women supporting is where it’s at!” “Women supporting women while celebrating their femininity and beauty! This is woman power!” and, “Such a fun and confident vibe! Love how you own the look and the moment.”
Say what you want about Bethenny, this woman is never afraid of contributing to the conversation or creating a buzz.
