Gael Cameron and Nathan Gallagher are getting ready for the next charter — ahem, chapter — in their lives.
The Below Deck Mediterranean alums, who got together during season 9 of the show, are expecting their first baby together, a son, and tell PEOPLE that when they first found out the happy news, they were feeling a little overwhelmed.
“Honestly, it was a mix of emotions. I was excited, a little scared, but mostly just overwhelmed with happiness,” Cameron tells PEOPLE. “It felt surreal in the best way, like everything was about to change in the best way possible.”

As for how she’s been feeling so far during her pregnancy, Cameron shares that she’s been lucky to have a relatively easy few months.
“Feeling super bloated and like my body’s expanding by the second,” she explains. “But overall quite well. Craving all the things I can’t have…I never wanted oysters more in my life. But it’s all so worth it.”
The couple has just started putting together their little one’s nursery, and Cameron notes that Gallagher is making sure their son is starting out as fashionable as he can be. “Nathan has made it a priority that bubs fits will be on point,” she says.

Although it’s going to be a huge change for the reality TV stars, Cameron says the two are just feeling excited to experience everything to come.
“I think I’m both excited and nervous,” says the mom-to-be. “It’s such a huge new chapter. There’s so much we don’t know yet, but we’re so excited to grow through it all.”
“The thought of sharing our world with our new little best friend just fills our hearts,” adds Cameron.
