Days of Our Lives and daytime television legend Susan Seaforth Hayes took a moment out of her day to share some advice to her fans and a touching photo of her late-husbands final resting place.
The actress shared some photos of herself on Instagram, including a shot of her visiting her late-husband, Bill Hayes, gravesite, and some advice she has to her fans. The actress captioned the post, “I advise anyone over 40 to cultivate young friends. Their support and companionship is quite different from your old friends and keeps you in the thick of life.
I am blessed with six grandsons – each one endowed with the genes of Bill Hayes, each one married to a top tier lady.
As fathers, husbands, creators, citizens- they shine with love and purpose.
Got to mingle with a crowd of them in Michigan this weekend. Visited my husband’s last resting place, where I will join him one day. Shared laughs and kisses, cherry pie, and a sunset cruise on Lake Michigan where I, of all people, spied the famous wreck of The Metropolis.
A private time, a poignant time, a perfect time.”

Fans quickly came to show the actress support in the comments. One user wrote, “I love this and have always been a fan of both you and Bill. Your words expressed the beauty and preciousness of your time. ❤️” While a second shared, “Such a lovely weekend with Family and cherished memories. The last photo with the sunset is absolutely beautiful!” and a third added, “Bill’s grave marker is so gorgeous and amazing! Glad you made arrangements to be buried right beside him one day.”
Hayes continues to be a part of the Days of Our Lives fabric, where she portrays the role of Julie Williams. The series was recently picked up for two additional seasons taking the series into its’ 63rd season. The show will celebrate 60 years on the air this November, with a special on-screen gala event to mark the occasion.
