Beloved ‘One Day at a Time Star’ Joins ‘Matlock’ for Season 2 originally appeared on Parade.
Tony Award nominee Justina Machado will be joining Kathy Bates in a recurring role in the second season of the CBS hit series Matlock.
The former One Day At a Time star will play Eva, Senior’s (Beau Bridges) fourth wife, when the legal drama returns. Matty Matlock (Bates) and Olympia Lawrence (Skye P. Marshall) will work to discover who the culprit is behind the suppression of the report on opioid drugs.

According to Deadline, which first reported the news, Eva is “a formidable, smart, and ambitious attorney and Jacobson Moore managing partner Howard ‘Senior’ Markston’s fourth ex-wife. The one who made him swear off marriage. Eva runs Jacobson Moore’s Miami office, and she arrives in New York for an emergency meeting… which she uses to her advantage.”
Joining the cast of Matlock is also a reunion for Machado and Matlock creator Jennie Snyder Urman, who worked together on Jane the Virgin.Yael Grobglas, who plays Shae Banfield on Matlock, is also a Jane the Virgin alum, although it’s not clear yet if she will be returning in her recurring role for Season 2.
Machado was nominated for a Tony for her Broadway run in Real Women Have Curves.
