Beloved ’80s Star Hospitalized, Admits to ‘Screaming’ in Pain originally appeared on Parade.
Christina Applegate is opening up about being in the hospital after experiencing pain on the way home from vacation. The Married With Children star shared her ordeal on her Messy podcast with Jamie-Lynn Sigler.
Messy’s recent episode kicked off with Applegate revealing she was doing the podcast from the hospital, and no, she wasn’t in there just for fun. Applegate admitted that she didn’t feel well on the flight home from Europe.

Instead of going home when she landed, the actress went to the hospital and was determined to stay until she got answers for what was going on. It turns out that the sick feeling in her stomach was something that had happened before.
“I’m like, I wanna be admitted,” she expressed when she arrived at the hospital. “I’m staying here because I want answers. I want every test that you can possibly think of or ones that you haven’t even thought of, and I want them done.”
Applegate was admitted, and the next day she started getting a pain on her right side, like she had never had before. The Dead to Me star immediately thought her appendix was bursting, but that was not the case because she was getting pain in her back, too.
“From my back to my front is in so much pain, I am screaming, and they ordered me an emergency CT at 2 am,” Applegate explained.
The test showed she had a kidney infection, and she needed to be medicated via IV. Applegate also admitted that the initial stomach issue she had hasn’t been resolved yet, either, and it remains a nightmare for her.
Since her diagnosis with MS in 2021, Applegate has experienced many health struggles, and she hasn’t hidden her frustration with the treatment of any issues now that she has the diagnosis.
Applegate remains in the hospital at this time and isn’t sure how long she will be there.
