The 2025 Met Gala has provided us with intricate corset gowns, sharp suits, and funky takes on menswear, but is it really ever a fashion red carpet without Bad Bunny?
The “Nuevayol” singer took over the red carpet at the Metropolitan Museum of Art tonight in a chocolate-brown suit by Prada that featured leather cuffs entirely covered in yellow crystals. He wore the suit over a caramel-colored shirt and a champagne tie, and he carried a massive brown-and-yellow bag from the fashion house’s Fall 2025 collection. For footwear, he slipped into a pair of white boots, and he shaded his eyes with inky oval sunglasses.
But Bunny’s best accessory? A brown woven hat made to look like the straw pavas often worn in the Puerto Rico countryside and in several Latin American countries. While this particular piece was made of fabric rather than straw, it was clearly a tribute to Bunny’s PR roots. Bad Bunny also wore a pava in press photos for his latest album, DeBÍ TiRAR MáS FOToS.
Another accessory of his that honored PR was the diamond brooch he wore pinned to his suit. It was shaped like his island’s national flower, the Flor de Maga.
Bunny, born Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio, wore his hair in a styled ’do with a kiss curl dangling on his forehead—a trend on the Met Gala carpet this year.
His ensemble embraced the evening’s theme, “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style,” which draws inspiration from Monica L. Miller’s 2009 book Slaves to Fashion: Black Dandyism and the Styling of Black Diasporic Identity.
The reggaeton star—who made his Met Gala debut in 2022 in a Burberry boiler suit and a romantic updo dotted with golden hair pins—always takes his fashion a step further. And as evidenced by his past Met Gala appearances, he loves a theme.
Last year, he looked like a stylish matador in a cinched navy jacket and matching trousers, both embellished with red details and what looked like seam measurements in white. The set—plus the Renaissance-man hat and faux flower bouquet that came with it—was custom Maison Margiela Artisanal Couture. Bunny finished the look with black Tabis embellished with some fur, black leather gloves, and diamond-shaped shades. Because more is more.
By contrast, he looked totally suave in a white tweed Jacquemus suit embellished with dozens of rosettes at the 2023 Met Gala. The roses flowed into a dramatic 26-foot-long rosette cape that followed Bunny on the carpet.
