Ashley Tisdale is giving her honest review of her niece portraying Sharpay in her High School Musical production.
The Phineas and Ferb voice actress, 39, got candid about watching the teen bring her iconic HSM to life while chatting exclusively with Parade.

“She was really cute. She was so amazing,” Tisdale says. “And it was really amazing to see her just sing the songs. It was just such a wild [experience]. Life is wild, you know? It’s just so cool. She’s up there singing it. And then because of my niece, my 4-year-old daughter is now into High School Musical because she saw her cousin perform. And she thought it was the coolest thing ever.”
She continues: “And then she realized I’m the character. And so now she’s watching it. Now she’s, like, obsessed with me. And it’s really funny because she’s listening to the songs nonstop. She had a playdate yesterday and she was singing ‘Fabulous.’ And she was like, ‘That’s my mom, that’s my mom.’ And I was like, ‘Oh my God,’ in the other room.”
Tisdale famously portrayed Sharpay in all three of Disney’s High School Musical films, which premiered in 2006, 2007 and 2008, respectively. The franchise also starred Zac Efron, Vanessa Hudgens, Corbin Bleu, Monique Coleman, Lucas Grabeel and more.
The Disney star goes on to tell Parade all about reprising her Phineas and Ferb character after a 10-year hiatus. The beloved animated series’ fifth season premiered on the Disney Channel and Disney XD on Thursday, June 5.
“I love it,” Tisdale says of voicing character Candace. “It’s so much fun. Like, it’s a dream job. So it feels like we never really left. And I just love playing Candace. She’s a real crazy girl.”
