Ashley McBryde is taking some time to heal.
On Wednesday, Aug. 6, the “One Night Standards” singer shared a video on Instagram where she communicated with fans through handwritten notes — and revealed she was on vocal rest.
“Hi guys! So … I hurt my throat,” McBryde, 42, wrote. “So, NO TALKING if I want to be able to sing to you.”

“This would be a good time to practice some A.S.L.,” she added. “Say things like: Hi! Nice to meet you! Good to see you!”
The country star concluded, “That way we don’t have to cancel meet + greets. Let’s try together.”
She captioned the post, “Trybe, doc says I’m working on busted up vocal cords. The last thing I wanna do is cancel any meet greets or Heaven forbid SHOWS. So let’s try this for this week!”
McBryde has a series of shows scheduled for the remainer of the month. McBryde’s tour is scheduled to conclude with her “Redemption Residency” at Chief’s in Nashville on Dec. 12. The singer-songwriter announced those shows on Instagram on Aug. 4.

“If you’ve been around since the bar days, we’ve already shared one hell of a ride. Now it’s all coming full circle with something I’ve been dreaming about for a long time. I’m excited to announce The Redemption Residency at Chief’s in Nashville,” she wrote.
McBryde released her latest single, “Rattlesnake Preacher,” in June. Days prior, McBryde shared a teaser video on Instagram.
“This one if for the folks who aren’t afraid to kick down the doors standing in their way,” she said in the video.
While McBryde is doing everything she can to make sure she can meet her fans, she opened up to PEOPLE in December about a starstruck moment she had — involving Reba McEntire at the 2019 Academy of Country Music Awards.
“She snuck in when I was doing a radio interview, and she got right next to my face and said into the microphone, ‘Hi, Ashley McBryde, this is Reba McEntire, and I’m your biggest fan,'” she said.
“I just literally honked like a goose at her,” the star added, noting that she actually said “Hi” nervously.
