The humble scarf continues to dominate as this summer’s go-to accessory. Some are looping it around their waist as a makeshift belt à la Lola Tung, while others are embracing the more traditional headscarf—a breezy, glamorous staple that captures the essence of summer drives and seaside strolls.

Anya Taylor-Joy opted for the latter at the F1 Grand Prix of Hungary, in Budapest, giving the retro, race car-coded trend her own inventive spin.

For the event, the actor tied a lime-green plissé scarf over her blonde hair, which was styled in two long braids. The casually-chic moment instantly evoked cinematic road trip icons like Grace Kelly and Audrey Hepburn.

By adding on a pair of black sunglasses and a deep red lip, the vintage allure was only heightened.

As for the rest of her outfit, she kept things pared back with a crisp white tank, matching shorts, and white Mary Jane flats.

Notably, Taylor-Joy didn’t stop at just one scarf. Instead, she draped a larger lace version across her shoulders as a shawl and carried a colorful printed scarf tied together as a handbag.

The look cements her place in the growing scarf revival crowd. Hailey Bieber and Kylie Jenner have recently worn silk scarves as head coverings during their European summers, while Alexa Chung has reimagined them as belts.

Taylor-Joy attended the race with her husband, Malcolm McRae, who was dressed in a striped shirt and high-waisted black trousers. The couple secretly wed on April Fool’s Day in 2022.
