When Anok Yai steps onto the Met Gala carpet, it’s as though she manages to transport through time.
This year, the supermodel attended the event wearing a creation from Thom Browne that was a masterclass of tailoring for you.
Her sleeveless gown’s top half comprised a figure-skimming, collared black brocade bodice, while the jacket sleeves slung over the hip and knotted. Down at the bottom, Yai’s ensemble featured a fanning hem in white fabric, which made her outfit look more like a ball gown and less like a traditional suit.
As for her glam, I’d be remiss not to mention (and will, in fact, continue to mention all week) her glitzy, almost holographic lumizing blush. It was the perfect touch to the classic and elegant style to inject some fun.
Topping last year’s look was no small feat, yet Yai managed to reset the bar entirely.
For 2024’s “The Garden of Time” theme, she delivered an instantly iconic look in Swarovski, wearing a fully crystallized ensemble that managed to feel both regal and innovative. The custom creation featured a transparent nude corset gown completely encrusted in over 98,000 crystals, each one reflecting light.
Her matching crystal veil and elbow-length gloves added some drama, but it was the metallic chrome body paint airbrushed onto her décolletage, neck, and limbs that solidified her look as one of the best Met Gala appearances that year, if not of all time.
Yai’s glam for the event was just as bold. Last year, her high-shine, sculptural bob and shimmering eyeshadow turned her into a walking prism.
