Anna Kendrick Takes Interview Since Tense Blake Lively Moment

The “Pitch Perfect” star made her first public appearance Monday morning on “Good Morning America” after she and Lively sparked major speculation with their cringeworthy red carpet reunion at the “Another Simple Favor” premiere.

While fans were eager to see if Anna Kendrick would address the rumored tension, she steered clear of any drama, opting to focus on promoting the new movie instead.

During her short interview, Anna mentioned Blake only briefly, giving a synopsis of where their characters are now in the sequel to 2018’s “A Simple Favor.”

“Blake’s character went to prison and got out of prison through mysterious circumstances. You know, my character went through a lot in the first movie, so she’s a little older and wiser but still very awkward. We love that for her,” Anna explained.

She added, “It’s sort of like I get invited, blackmailed, into being like the maid of honor at this very glamorous Italian wedding for Blake’s character. I know something suspicious is going on, but then, you know, they start dropping like flies, and I have to figure out the situation.”

Looking radiant and unbothered, Anna stunned on set in a red patterned sleeveless mini dress with burgundy velvet detailing, matching heels, a patent leather bag, and dark red designer shades.

Her strawberry blonde hair flowed in loose waves, and she completed the look with a glossy light pink lip.

The interview came just hours after Anna and Blake’s highly anticipated reunion at the NYC premiere.

Blake rocked a Cinderella-blue cutout gown, while Anna showed off her toned abs in a chic white crop top and high-waisted pants set.

“Their ‘red carpet’ smiles do look rather tempered or subdued here,” body language expert Judi James told Daily Mail of their previous reunion. “Blake’s lips are closed while Anna’s smile lacks the traits of real joy, like rounded cheeks or eye crinkling.”

“Blake is performing an eye-smile, but Anna’s ‘smile’ doesn’t seem to have reached her eyes,” Judi added, further noting Blake’s relatively relaxed posture. “Blake’s body pose looks relaxed and has amicable signals, with the way her pelvis is partly turned in towards the group and the way her legs are crossed inward towards the group too,” she said.

One reported point of tension centered around billing for their upcoming movie, with additional claims suggesting that Kendrick is frustrated that Lively’s legal battle with Justin has overshadowed the new project.

Fans’ concerns grew after Anna and Blake made an appearance together at SXSW in Texas this past March.

In a video shared by ET, when Kendrick was asked what it meant to work with Blake again, she gave a cryptic response while signing autographs, simply saying, “Oh, you know…”

Previously, a source told E! News, “There is no drama. They are not enemies. They are coworkers, friends, and get along well.”

The insider also added that the two Hollywood stars “look forward to promoting the movie along with the rest of the cast.”

Speculation about a possible rift between the stars has only intensified as Lively’s legal battle with her “It Ends With Us” co-star and director Justin Baldoni continues, with some fans now wondering if Kendrick may have quietly sided with him.

In February, while presenting the Best Director award at the 2025 BAFTA Awards, Kendrick spoke highly of directors in general, saying, “We all have huge respect for directors. It’s one of the most exhilarating and exhausting jobs in the world. It’s juggling a million decisions, answering endless questions, and somehow still making sure that the story shines through.”

Although she didn’t mention Baldoni by name, some viewers took her remarks as a subtle show of support.

“Another Simple Favor,” starring Kendrick, Lively, and a new cast of chaotic wedding guests, drops May 1 on Prime Video.
