Angel Webb, who is also mom to University of Maryland basketball player Julian Reese, wrote, “Aww that certain fan base looking in the stands celebrating ‘attendance’ while others are looking up in the rafters celebrating championship banners,” likely referring to her daughter’s NCAA championship in 2023 over Clark’s Hawkeyes.
That season, both Reese and Clark rose to fame as their matchup for the title brought in 9.9 million viewers, per ESPN. The next year, in her last college season before entering the WNBA, Clark’s Hawkeyes brought in 18.7 million viewers in their championship game against South Carolina. Ultimately, the Gamecocks defeated Clark and Iowa for the title.
