Awards season has brought love into Andrew Garfield’s life. On February 21, People reported that Garfield has been “quietly” dating A Complete Unknown’s Monica Barbaro after the two were seen together in London.
A source told People that “they’ve been really low-key and have been spending time together quietly.” The actors’ reps did not respond to People’s request for comment.
In October 2024, Garfield told Esquire that he protects his love life, so don’t expect him to comment on any dating rumors. “I have never, and I won’t ever, speak about or confirm or deny anything about my personal life with anyone, ever,” he said.
Garfield, 41, was last romantically linked to spiritual advisor Dr. Kate Tomas; she confirmed their breakup on Oct. 11, 2024.
Barbaro, meanwhile, is a 34-year-old rising star who hasn’t spoken about her love life either. She has touched on some offscreen relationships though, telling L’Officiel Australia in July 2023 that she has “a lovely community of friends. I love to host at my place and have everyone over for a Sunday morning, wear your PJs and just come, hang out and watch whatever, sports game or chat, catch up….Luckily, after abandoning my friends so much and leaving town, they’re still willing to come over and hang out.”
And in February 2025, she told Hollywood Authentic that attending events during awards season can really “change an actor’s life.”
When she went to the 2023 Oscars with the Top Gun: Maverick cast, “I just kept thinking: “Embrace it. See it. Feel it,’” she said.
“One of the coolest things about being in that conversation is getting to have that sense of community in a space that can be quite intimidating professionally,” she continued. “It was just so exciting to be there, and to watch people make speeches and honor their fellow nominees, and really truthfully do so. It’s not fake. That was so cool.”

On February 20, footage of Barbaro and Garfield sitting together at a performance of Jonathan Bailey’s Richard II in London circulated on social media. It sparked dating rumors that were confirmed a day later by People.
A source said the two actors had been dating quietly but did not specify when their relationship began. “They’ve been really low-key and have been spending time together quietly,” the insider said.
Neither commented on dating reports when they came out. Garfield does not have social media, while Barbaro has remained silent on the topic on Instagram.
March 2025
On March 2, Barbaro and Garfield attended the Oscars but arrived separately. Fans noticed they walked down the red carpet at the same time, fueling speculation they may have traveled there together.
The couple was not photographed interacting at the ceremony, nor did they pose together at the Vanity Fair Oscar Party that they both attended. An eyewitness told Entertainment Tonight that they hung out inside there, though.
They were later photographed leaving the Vanity Fair Oscar Party and arriving at Beyoncé and Jay-Z’s Oscar party.
A source there told Entertainment Tonight that Garfield and Barbaro were glued to each other the entire time. They were seen “kissing and dancing the whole night,” the insider said.
On March 16, gossip Instagram account DeuxMoi posted photos of Garfield and Barbaro shopping at a grocery store in Malibu. Garfield wore a red baseball cap, white T-shirt, and wide-legged denim jeans. Barbaro was in a white tank under a green cardigan and a blue cap. They took turns pushing a cart full of household items.
April 2025
In early April, Garfield and Barbaro were spotted on vacation in Kyoto, Japan. A TikTok user shared footage of the couple holding hands and matching in gray as they walked around the city. At one point, Barbaro held onto Garfield’s arm in a sweet show of PDA.
May 2025
On May 3, the couple was seen backstage at John Proctor Is the Villain on Broadway. The production shared photos of the two actors posing with the cast, writing in the caption, “new students at helen county high: thanks for joining us andrew garfield, monica barbaro, and bonnie milligan!!”
The pair was first seen at the Mark Hotel, according to Just Jared, before attending the popular new show. In the pics, they’re both wearing blue baseball caps and black jackets.
