The postmerge of Survivor 48 has made one thing clear: Eva and Joe are running the show. The two have a very visible partnership, are part of an ironclad majority, and are in possession of all the advantages in the game. But with less than a week to go, friend and foe alike were debating when and how to take a shot at the season’s most powerful duo.

Who got voted off on Survivor 48 tonight?
Mary Zheng
On Day 3 of Survivor 48, Mary’s back was up against a corner. And unfortunately, the substance abuse counselor basically took up residence there for the entirety of her game. For almost half of the Tribal Councils she attended, she walked out with a shocked face, having been left out of the vote and without one of her closest allies. But Mary was not a little lamb. As she took up her residency on the bottom, she fought with the ferocity of a lion to stay in the competition. That included idol hunts that had her rivals’ heads spinning, finding new people to buddy up to, and playing a Shot in the Dark successfully to nullify all votes in a Tribal Council.
Unfortunately, by the Final 7, Mary’s stock was depleting as much as the coconut supply on the island. Despite what she claims to be a “bomb” social game, she was deemed too untrustworthy and chaotic to be brought in as a number by those looking to make a move. So she was unanimously sent out, but, in a fashion befitting to her 20-day fight, she did so by calling out Joe as the one set up to take it all.

Were any advantages found or played on Survivor 48 tonight?
No! Eva was randomly drawn to get sent on a journey, where she could attempt to complete a challenge to either keep her vote or take a risk to get the “Knowledge is Power” advantage. Unfortunately, the person who went on the journey was arguably the only person who didn’t need the advantage, given the fact that Eva has all of the advantages in the game at this point. So she chose to play it safe, competing until she got her vote back, then opting out.
Additionally, this week was the last week that Eva could play her “Safety Without Power” advantage to send her or someone else out of Tribal Council. She chose not to play it, meaning it has gone unused for the second time in the “new era” of Survivor.
