Maybe a few years ago, lingerie was meant to be worn under clothing, but in 2025, we’re showing off our underwear—the elegant way. Amanda Seyfried is the latest celebrity to rep the trend, and she did so this Tuesday, while walking the red carpet in Lille, France.
The Mamma Mia! star attended a screening of her upcoming crime show Long Bright River during the Series Mania Festival in the French city. For the occasion, she dressed up—or should we say down—in a sleek black blazer minidress and a matching bra.
The blazer, with its silky lapels and structured silhouette, was all business. And the little black bra, with its scooped design, was all pleasure. Seyfried finished the look with glossy black pumps and gold jewelry: hoop earrings and a chain necklace. She wore her hair in a long braid, and coordinated her glam with her monochrome fit, opting for heavy black liner.
In a 2022 interview with Harper’s Bazaar UK, Seyfried admitted that she likes to keep her red-carpet style easy and chic, as her priority is to feel comfortable. “I really enjoy experimenting with fashion on photoshoots, but the red carpet is a different animal; it’s very brief and it’s very frantic,” she said.
Because of this, the actor said she mostly relies on her longtime stylist, Elizabeth Stewart, who “understands what will look good on my body and she knows my boundaries with fashion.”
“I think my style has really always stayed in one place—it has evolved here and there and of course my body has changed when I’ve had kids, but I have always been one to wear sweatpants as often as I can, and when I wear jeans, it is going to be the same jeans I have had for years,” Seyfried added. “It just works for me so I don’t move away from it. And look, I live on a farm for the most part now—no one is photographing me, so I just dress how I want.”
