Miley Cyrus is having a fashion renaissance, and I’m just happy I’m alive to witness it.
In her Something Beautiful era, Cyrus has elevated her style game like never before, turning to the archives of Mugler, Bob Mackie, Dolce & Gabbana, and more, as well as some fresh-off-the-runway looks, to alternate between press appearances, surprise performances, and the filming of new music videos.
Back in December 2024, Cyrus revealed to Harper’s Bazaar that fashion played a large part in the making of her ninth studio album, with seminal shows—like Thierry Mugler’s 1995 couture presentation—acting as inspiration for the sound. “It still seems pretty cutting-edge, even now,” her producer, Shawn Everett, said of the inspirational collection.
Fashion was a driving force leading up to the release of the album, and a few weeks back, Cyrus’s fashion takeover continued when she landed in Paris for an intimate performance to celebrate her induction into the Spotify Billions Club (a commemoration for artists who have had multiple songs reach a billion-plus streams on the platform).

Now, the entire performance is finally available to stream on Spotify, and to celebrate the release, Cyrus’s stylist, Bradley Kenneth, offered up a few exclusive quotes on the moment. “For Miley’s performance and encore, I chose to continue the album’s fashion narrative by pulling archive Mugler,” he told Bazaar. “We hold the record for the most archive Mugler ever sent for a single project. I selected two contrasting looks, each highlighting a different side of Miley that’s both feminine and powerful. Both featured corsets by the legendary Mr. Pearl. The first was a beaded minidress in cascading shades of blue—ethereal and fluid. For the encore, we went with a sharp, commanding silhouette from Mugler’s “Les Amazones” collection. Thierry once said he envisioned women of the ’90s as ‘goddesses who own the night as effortlessly as they do the daylight skyline.’ That’s exactly how I see Miley!”

Thierry Mugler Fall/Winter 1992-1993 “Ritz” Couture Collection
Cyrus wears a crystal minidress from the Thierry Mugler Fall 1992/93 couture collection, titled “Ritz.” The sculptural design features rhinestones in various shades of blue, with beaded strings hanging from the dress like icicle fringe. The hems are structured to look like shards of frozen rock. The look is completed with long black opera gloves and matching suede platform heels.
Bob Mackie Fall 2002 “To Broadway, With Love” Couture Collection
Backstage, Cyrus wears an archival Bob Mackie look from the Fall 2002 “To Broadway, With Love” couture collection. The look leans into the theatrics, thanks to a transparent, draping top with squiggly gold thread decorating the billowing sleeves and neckline, as well as the bottom of matching wide-leg pants. For extra drama, the sleeves are capped off with large fuzzy cuffs in cream.
Of the look, Kenneth says: “This Bob Mackie piece was from Miley’s personal collection—we’ve been holding onto it, waiting for the perfect moment. The setting for the Billions Club was Maxim’s, with its iconic Art Nouveau interior. [So], the second I saw the space, I thought of this look. It reminds me of an Erté painting, ornate, glamorous, and totally transportive. It felt like the perfect match.”
Maison Margiela Spring 2015 Couture Collection by John Galliano
Behind the scenes, Cyrus wears an eye-catching red dress with see-through material, exposed thread, and decorative bands along the bottom of the skirt. Pulled from the Maison Margiela Spring 2015 couture collection—John Galliano’s debut collection for the house—the piece is layered over a cheetah-print undergarment and paired with pointy black stiletto heels.
On this look, Kenneth says: “I always try to include John Galliano wherever I can. Theres such a creative synergy between him and Miley. They both embody this rare ability to merge classic technique with radical experimentation. Galliano’s work has that theatricality, emotional depth, and couture craftsmanship that just makes sense on her.”
Saint Laurent Pre-Fall 2025 by Anthony Vaccarello
Here, Cyrus sports a mustard slip dress from the Saint Laurent Pre-Fall 2025 collection by Anthony Vaccarello. The flowy design features embroidery along the bust and seams long the skirt, and it’s paired with a tan fur coat and oxblood stiletto boots.
“This Saint Laurent was the perfect way to bring in something minimal and modern, it cut through all the theatrical, archival looks we had throughout the day,” Kenneth says. “It added that sharp, clean contrast that made everything feel more elevated.”
Jean Paul Gaultier Spring 2002 Couture Collection
Cyrus is the first person to wear this look since it made its debut on the runway at the Jean Paul Gaultier Spring 2002 couture show. It has not been out of the archives since. The ensemble consists of a black, off-the-shoulder midi dress layered under a red silk cape with gold floral embroidery. Underneath, there is also a flowing black robe decorated with a pattern of gold leaves and white lacy trim.
Of the look, Kenneth notes: “Jean Paul Gaultier once said this collection was about ‘a women who dresses, then heads out for a torrid night,’ and that energy felt right for this moment. This look had the perfect balance between chic and theatrical.”
Thierry Mugler Fall/Winter 1996/97 “Les Amazones” Collection
For her final performance look, Cyrus steps out in a sequin-encrusted bodysuit with hues of blood-red and black, which she pairs with black panties and layers under a structured hourglass blazer with a velvet collar and pockets. To complete the look, she wears pointy black pumps.
