Peele has said he can’t wait to show his son his movies
Actor and director Jordan Peele and actress Chelsea Peretti are known for their comedy skills, but it’s no joke how much they love their son, Beaumont Gino Peele.
Before becoming a parent, the Get Out director admitted he thought kids were “creepy” sometimes. “What happens if I wake up in the middle of the night, look over and my child is standing in the doorway?” he joked with USA Today in February 2017. “Do I run? Which direction do I run? Towards it? Away from it?”
The duo welcomed their baby boy on July 1, 2017, and Peele immediately changed his tune. “Every day is a joy,” he told PEOPLE about being Beau’s dad. “You meet a little bit more of the person. Seeing that smile or recognition is everything.”
The Key and Peele star and Brooklyn Nine-Nine actress are careful to protect their child from the public eye, so fans haven’t seen his face. However, the parents do share bits and pieces of Beau’s life on social media and in interviews.

Peretti and Peele announced they were expecting their first child in February 2017, when the soon-to-be mom could no longer conceal her baby bump. “Really it got to the point where hiding it really wasn’t an option,” Peele told PEOPLE in March 2017.
A few days prior, they announced the news with a selfie from an art installation that mimicked Beyoncé’s surprise maternity shoot the same year. “Beyonce schmonce,” Peretti jokingly captioned the selfie.
The Us director added that they were “so excited” to become parents, and that they were relieved to finally share the news. “You want to get into the zone where you feel like, ‘Okay, now this is happening,’ ” he said, sharing that they’d gotten such a “warm reaction” and that it was so “cool and surreal” to be expecting a baby together.
“My wife is just a very beautiful and spectacular pregnant person,” he added.

Little Beaumont was born on July 1, 2017, at 4:29 p.m. in Los Angeles, PEOPLE confirmed at the time.
The duo were private about their son’s early days, but they were thrilled when he finally slept through the night six months later. “OUR BABY SLEPT THRU THE NITE W NO MILK,” Peretti wrote on X in January 2018, later adding, “IT TRULY PUT ME OVER THE TOP.”
It’s a good thing, too, because Peele shared one month later that he is very “committed to his sleep.”
“I need my sleep,” he told PEOPLE, grateful that his son was finally settling in. “I’m getting more than if I were shooting a movie right now,” he added.

Before Beau even turned 1 year old, he had already supported his parents on their way to the Academy Awards.
“It’s very possible I was holding my son in a tiny tux 😍😍😍😍😢😢😢😩😩😩,” Peretti captioned an X post of her and Peele posing in a home before the red carpet at the 2018 Oscars.
In the photo, Beau is cut off to protect his privacy, besides one little black-sleeved arm sticking into frame, sitting on Peretti’s hip as she rocked a deep red velvet gown. Beau may have been Peele’s lucky charm, as his film Get Out went on to win Best Original Screenplay that night.

For Mother’s Day 2020, Peretti reflected on her own mother, and revealed how she impacted the way she parents Beau.
“Happy mother’s day to my mom who encouraged me to be creative and tell my stories and read and write and eat salad and love nature and be silly and value family and love travel and languages and foods,” she shared in a post on Instagram.
“Amazing how so many of the lessons really do stick in your head,” she added, saying that she could hear her mom’s voice in her mind telling her how to act throughout the pandemic.
“Gonna hold onto that bc my son doesn’t listen to s— I say,” she joked. “But maybe he’ll remember it later 😂.”

Peele admitted before Beaumont was even born that people kept telling him his son “would be comedy gold.”
As a toddler, Beau had already begun showing signs that he was ready for showbiz. “Not to toot my own horn, but he’s the child of two extremely artistic people and honestly I think he would be a great child actor,” Peretti told Marc Maron on the August 2020 episode of WTF Pod, adding that her son was “extremely verbal.”
“He just memorizes everything,” she shared. “I think ‘with your brain, I could conquer Hollywood!’ ” but she also added that she “would never let him do it” and that he “hasn’t expressed interest in acting” explicitly.

While Beau is still a little too young for horror movies, his dad can’t wait to share his work with him. When asked when Beau would be allowed to watch Peele’s award-winning film Get Out, the director already had an answer ready.
“Great question, I don’t know, probably 9 or 10,” he told PEOPLE about the R-rated film. “It will be early.”
