Al Roker has been celebrating his 71st birthday on vacation with his wife Deborah Roberts in Italy
The Today show anchor has shared a glimpse into the couple’s travels on Instagram
Two of the photos shared showed himself and Roberts in Siena, taken 16 years apart, with Roker joking that he looks “ancient”

The Today show anchor has been sharing a glimpse into his Italian vacation with his wife Deborah Roberts on Instagram, including a peek into his 71st birthday celebrations in Tuscany.
The veteran broadcaster has been busy on social media, sharing a series of posts from the couple’s travels to the Hotel Il Pellicano in Tuscany, along with their stops in Milan, Lake Como, Rome, Venice and Siena.
A post from Siena shared on Monday, Aug. 25, showed Roker and Roberts, 64, returning to the city’s famous tower, the Torre del Mangia, 16 years after they first visited the sight.
Alongside a throwback photo and new shot of the pair standing in front of the tower, Roker wrote, “Siena, 2009 vs. 2025. Only that clock tower and @debrobertsabc haven’t changed.”
“I look ancient,” Roker, who turned 71 on Aug. 20, joked.

The couple’s vacation also included a trip on the La Dolce Vita Orient Express, where the duo sampled pasta, macarons and charcuterie on the luxury train and took in the sights in Rome and Venice before finishing in Siena.
Roker shared a video of the trip on Instagram as he thanked his wife for his birthday celebrations and shared photos of the pair posing with some of the train’s staff and chefs, tiramisu in a restaurant and drinking red wine.
“We ended our #italianadventure on the @ladolcevitaorientexpress for two nights, originating in Rome, then stopping in Venice, with the requisite stop at @harrysbarrestaurant home of the original Bellini, then Siena and beside seeing The Duomo, sampling the food at @anticapizzicheriachigiana was amazing,” Roker wrote. “The crew, run by Dora Domby took great care of us. Arrivederci, Italy. And thank you, @debrobertsabc for a great birthday/anniversary combination.”
“Let that diet and the napping begin!! La Dolce Vita! 🇮🇹,” wrote Roberts in the comments section.
The couple are set to celebrate their 30th wedding anniversary on Sept. 16.
Roker and Roberts met in 1990 when Roberts joined NBC’s Today as a correspondent.
