Aimee Lou Wood is making quite the splash at her first Met Gala!
The White Lotus star, 31, capped off a successful few months following her run on the hit HBO series at the 2025 Met Gala with a stylish look consisting of a sleek asymmetrical black suit-gown.
The outfit, designed by London designer Priya Ahluwalia, consisted of a cropped black suit jacket over a crisp white button-down shirt with a black tie, according to Vogue. The look transitioned at the bottom into a black gown on one side and a pair of black shorts on the other.
The actress paired the look with black tights, white ankle socks and statement heels, which featured 3-D red, white and yellow carnation designs. She also wore Cartier diamonds and wore her hair in a sleeked back bun with a few strands cascading on her face.
Ahluwalia told Vogue that the look is a “celebration of cultural pride and appreciation,” and she took inspiration for the look from the elegance of the Congolese Sapeurs, who wore a more Jazz Age-inspired wardrobe.

“I wanted to do something that spotlights Congolese culture,” Ahluwalia explained. “Both Aimee and I are passionate advocates for global liberation, and I wanted to channel that energy into a look that represents strength, beauty and resilience.”
Ahluwalia added that dressing Wood for her first turn at the event was an honor: “She’s so nice. And she looks f—— amazing.”
In October, Vogue announced Colman Domingo, Lewis Hamilton, A$AP Rocky, Pharrell Williams and Anna Wintour as co-chairs of the 2025 Met Gala, as well as LeBron James as honorary chair. The event, which is held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, is a fundraiser for The Costume Institute and spotlights the museum’s spring 2025 exhibition, “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style.”
Curator in Charge Andrew Bolton shared that the exhibit, which is inspired by guest curator Monica L. Miller’s 2009 book Slaves to Fashion: Black Dandyism and the Styling of Black Diasporic Identity, explores “the Black dandy as both a concept and an identity signifier.”
The exhibit “presents a cultural and historical examination of Black style from the 18th century to the present through an exploration of the concept of dandyism,” according to a post on the museum’s Instagram.
The Met Gala’s dress code this year is “Tailored for You.” It is a nod to the exhibition’s focus on menswear and suiting. The host committee this year includes Simone Biles and her husband, Jonathan Owens, Regina King, Spike Lee, Angel Reese, Doechii and Usher.

Over the years, the actress, who stepped into the spotlight after starring in the Netflix TV show Sex Education and 2022 film Living, has graced several red carpet premieres in classic silhouettes that often have a unique quality or feature — quite on brand for the actress who has admitted in the past that she feels “a bit rebellious” when it comes to keeping her natural teeth.

The star has had a bit of an affinity for wearing polka dots. She wore a black polka-dot flowing dress to the 2020 premiere of Sex Education, and wore the pattern again 2022 Venice Film Festival in a Patou gown that featured oversize sleeves and a simple black train, according to W Magazine.
For the 2022 Living premiere in London, she wore a light pink V-neck dress with multi-colored red, silver and gold rhinestone detailing that covered the bodice and waistline of the dress. It also featured ties on her shoulders, and she paired it with sparkly heels and wore her hair in an updo.

Wood isn’t afraid to experiment with different styles — and notably donned a bright purple cape, which draped around her arms and accentuated the black Valentino dress that she wore to the 2023 BAFTA Awards. She completed the look with black tights, black heels and silver diamond jewelry.
She also put a new spin on a different little black dress for the 2023 British Independent Film Awards, simply pairing the classic dress with black tights, and Mary Jane shoes for the event. She also wore her hair in an updo with a few strands falling out.

Wood also wore a long Celine black one-shoulder gown with a slit to the 2022 Toronto Film Festival — showing her knack for pulling off classic Old Hollywood looks. However, the actress isn’t afraid to don pants if she has to, and even wore a white suit jacket with a black bow tie and slacks to the 2022 British Independent Film Awards.
Most recently, at the 2025 White Lotus premiere, she donned a custom strapless Burberry wine-colored dress with ruffled detailing on the top of the dress, across her waistline and at the bottom. It also featured a unique detail: sparkly animal patterns that depicted what appeared to be a fox-like creature in different positions. She paired the dress with De Beers silver rings and drop earrings, per W Magazine, and wore her hair down for the event.
