Adam Sandler is paying tribute to his friend and Little Nicky co-star Ozzy Osbourne.
Following the news of Osbourne’s death at age 76, Sandler took to Instagram to share a photo from his 2000 film Little Nicky, a comedy that centered on one of Satan’s sons.
Osbourne made a surprise cameo near the film’s end, helping Nicky defeat one of his villains — who is disguised as a bat — by biting off its head, an homage to one of the rock star’s most infamous on-stage antics.
In his Instagram post, Sandler, 58, touched on the legendary Black Sabbath frontman’s musical career, writing, “Whether we were in our basements with our brothers, in the woods with our buddies, in the car, at a keg party, on a boat, at football practice, at a sleepover….Nobody was more badass to crank up on our speakers than the one and only prince of darkness – Ozzy Osborne! Loved him a lot like we all did! Sending love to the family and so happy to have spent time with the legend himself. RIP.”

In a statement on Tuesday, July 22, Osbourne’s family told PEOPLE: “It is with more sadness than mere words can convey that we have to report that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne has passed away this morning. He was with his family and surrounded by love. We ask everyone to respect our family privacy at this time.”

Weeks before his death, Osbourne performed from a throne at the Black Sabbath farewell concert on July 5 in Birmingham.
In January 2020, Osbourne revealed that he’d been diagnosed in 2003 with Parkinson’s disease, a nervous system disorder that affects movement. At the time, he said, “It’s not a death sentence.”
Despite numerous health challenges over the years, in February 2025, Osbourne announced a farewell fund-raising Black Sabbath concert in his hometown of Birmingham, England, set for July. It would be his final concert and his first in 20 years with the band that made him a star.
