The post got a response from his friend Kelly Ripa as well as many followers, one of whom dubbed him the “Finest tv anchor”
David Muir is setting hearts ablaze with his latest vacation thirst trap.
The World News Tonight anchor, 51, took to Instagram on Sunday, July 27, to share a photo of himself from a summer getaway that had his nearly 700,000 followers commenting on how handsome he is.
“is it really nearly august already 🛶,” he captioned the snap.
Muir’s photo showed him wearing a navy blue polo and sunglasses as he reached for the boat’s steering wheel. The journalist looked over his right shoulder as he gave a picture-perfect smile.
The comments section of Muir’s post instantly heated up.
One of the most noticeable reactions came from Muir’s friend Kelly Ripa.
“Hello @gq,” the Live with Kelly and Mark co-host wrote, with Monica Lewinsky agreeing in a response.
Former Real Housewives of New York City star Kelly Bensimon chimed in with four fire emojis.
Celebrities weren’t the only ones sounding off, though. Fans also got in on the commentary and praised Muir for his appearance in the photo.
“The camera loves you… and we do too!” one person wrote, with another adding, “Pretty fly for a news guy.”
One follower dubbed him the “Finest tv anchor,” while many noted that Muir seems to share a striking resemblance to John F. Kennedy Jr.

Muir previously opened up about his devoted online fanbase, some of whom share thirst edits of him on TikTok, and acquiring his “Daddy” status.
“People will forward TikTok videos, but only because they are laughing out loud at them and making fun of me and saying, ‘When did you become Daddy?’ So I don’t know whether that happens when you hit 50 or what, but I’ll take it as a compliment, I think,” he joked to PEOPLE in May. “Anyone who works with me knows that I am so uncomfortable even having to put on the tux. So the fact that I survive those events is still a surprise to me without looking like a total nerd.”
“So maybe it’s lost on me, but I guess Daddy’s better than the alternative,” he added with a laugh.

Muir also noted that, despite the online interest seemingly being all about him, it’s actually his dog, Axel, that has won over people’s hearts.
“I love when people come up to me and interact because I feel like if they’re going to be with me every night on the news, they do know me and they have every right to come up and sort of check in with me,” he said. “But I have a dog walker who has been with me for six years now. And so I love the stories of even when the dog walker is out in public, people will say, ‘Is that David Muir’s dog?’ It kind of puts it all in perspective. The dog is always the most important.”
“I think [he’s] more [famous],” he says of Axel’s fame. “He deserves to be. And he has no idea which makes it even more special.”
