Aaron Rodgers has a new NFL team.

The 41-year-old quarterback is reportedly signing with the Pittsburgh Steelers, according to NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport.

On Thursday, June 5, Rapoport said, “Aaron Rodgers plans to sign with the #Steelers, per The Insiders,” in a post on X, adding that the quarterback will sign a one-year deal with Pittsburgh.

“At long last, the four-time MVP lands in his best spot,” Rapoport added in his post.

Rodgers’ new contract comes after a disappointing two years with the New York Jets. On Feb. 13, the organization made their split from Rodgers official in a statement on their website.

Head coach Aaron Glenn and general manager Darren Mougey said they “shared that our intention was to move in a different direction at quarterback,” during their February meeting with Rodgers.

“It was important to have this discussion now to provide clarity and enable each of us the proper time to plan for our respective futures,” the Jets’ statement continued. “We want to thank him for the leadership, passion, and dedication he brought to the organization and wish him success moving forward.”

Rodgers joined the Jets after he was traded from the Packers in April 2023. In his first game with the team that September, the quarterback suffered a torn Achilles tendon that took him out for the entire season, squashing his highly-anticipated Jets debut. Rodgers recovered and started in every game for the Jets during the 2024 season with lackluster results, finishing 5-13 and missing the playoffs.

One week after the Jets announced they’d be “moving forward without” Rodgers, the quarterback was spotted by TMZ on Thursday, Feb. 19. When asked what his requirements are for a new team he’d sign with, Rodgers said they have to “want” him and they have to have “a good team.”

Despite his time with the Jets ending on a sour note, Rodgers said that his time with the team had been “the best two years of my life” in January, according to the Associated Press.

The athlete said, “Obviously wish things would have gone better on the field. But nothing but gratitude for this time in my life.”

He added, “It’s been a great experience all around, and again, I’m disappointed about the performance of both myself and as a team, but really thankful for the opportunity.”
