A$AP Rocky’s journey as a dad has a big influence on his work as a musician.
The rapper and fashion trendsetter, 36, sat down with podcast hosts Chioma Nnadi and Chloe Malle for the latest episode of The Run-Through with Vogue to discuss everything from the 2025 Met Gala to some of his upcoming projects. During the interview, Rocky also talked about how being a proud dad of two influenced his creative process.
“Being a father is my creative process now because I just embodied it as a whole,” he told the hosts. “I never really had a role model or just an iconic figure, … and I guess I’m that for people, and I didn’t purposely try to do that, but I take it as a badge of honor. I’m so flattered and, you know, just being me that it can inspire people to actually do something that is considered good being a present active father.”
“I love that s—. For me, my dad was a proud dad. He taught me everything I know, especially how to be a gentleman and whatnot, so I was prepared to be a dad my whole life, man, you know?” he added. “I’m ready, and I’m 36 going on 37, man. These clothes suit me well.”

Save for a few interviews, Rihanna and Rocky, who have been together since 2020, have kept the details of their young sons’ lives private. They did, however, pose for the first time as a family of four in September 2023.
Rocky has also been vocal about his desire to raise open-minded kids and “not people who discriminate.” He explained to Dazed in 2022, “And I’m not trying to describe a saint, but realistically, I just want a cool child with cool parents.”
He also wants his sons to have as normal a childhood as possible while having two very famous parents. As Rocky told Billboard in August 2024, “They still human. They human beings.”
