Last episode of Survivor 48 had its first major shock of the postmerge, as David had nearly his entire alliance turn against him to send him out. However, this only somewhat reset the board, as the remnants of the “strong” alliance quickly reaffirmed their loyalty and set their sights on the people on the bottom. While a plan was concocted to overthrow the majority, it was quickly scuttled. And so two of the tribe’s outsiders found themselves forced to go against each other to survive, as one of them, unfortunately, didn’t.

Who got voted off on Survivor 48 tonight?
Star Toomey
Star as a Survivor player was, somehow, chaos and calm rolled into one. Her early actions in the game made her a wildcard, as her very visible idol hunt had her telling nearly everyone in the tribe about her Beware Advantage. On top of that, the one person she didn’t initially tell she ended up giving the idol to after she solved it for her. But despite keeping everyone on their toes, Star generally tended to sit back on the balls on her feet. As she talked about at Tribal Council, she never chose to be paranoid, figuring, “In the game of Survivor, when your brain can’t operate, your gut will never fail you.” So Star failed to heed the warning signs, including Mitch directly telling her to play her Shot in the Dark. And the north star of her gut led her in the wrong direction, as she was sent to have “Uncle JP” snuff her torch.

Were any advantages found or played on Survivor 48 tonight?
No! It should be noted, however, that next week’s episode is the last time Eva can play her recently-acquired “Safety Without Power” advantage. So we’ll see if she utilizes it to save herself or one of her allies, or possibly send an enemy out of Tribal Council.
