A Halloween Favorite From the ‘90s Is Returning to Theaters for the First Time in Decades originally appeared on Parade.

Grab your popcorn and get ready for a trip down memory lane, ‘90s kids. The cult classic Casper is returning to theaters for its 30th anniversary.

Casper stars Christina Ricci as Kat and Bill Pullman as her father, Dr. Harvey, a ghost therapist who moves into a creaky old mansion to help its lingering spirits move on. “They meet a friendly but lonely young ghost named Casper who’s just looking for a friend,” the anniversary screening’s press release teases, along with “his outrageous uncles Stretch, Stinkie and Fatso.”

But let’s be real. It was Devon Sawa’s 30-second appearance as Casper’s human form that had every kid in the theater swooning when he showed up at Kat’s Halloween party and asked, “Can I keep you?”

Over the years, Casper has been elevated to peak ‘90s status, and now, an entirely new generation will get to experience it in theaters once again. While younger audiences will enjoy the tale of Casper and Kat’s sweet, but unusual, friendship, millennials can keep their eyes out for some uncredited cameos that might not have packed as much punch the first time they saw the film. Dan Aykroyd, Clint Eastwood, Mel Gibson and Rodney Dangerfield all make uncredited appearances in the movie.

A fresh poster dropped on August 1 with the tagline, “The friendly ghost returns to theaters,” and fans are more than a little excited about the chance to watch the movie on the big screen again.

“Casper was one of the few VHS tapes I had growing up. It has a special place in my heart. I fell for the styling of the movie, and I think it’s responsible for my love of old houses and antiques and all that,” one person on Reddit wrote.

Another added, “That art style for the title text and ghost characters is so iconic. It really gives [that] special feeling and takes you back to that time.”

Casper fans don’t have to wait long for its return. It’ll be hitting movie theaters on October 3 and will run through October 31. It’s the perfect way to celebrate Spooky Season.
