NEED TO KNOW

  • Tickets for the US Open have gone on sale — months before the tournament begins matches on Aug. 18

  • Some tickets for the men’s singles final could cost as much as $30,000 a piece

  • Jannik Sinner and Aryna Sabalenka were the men’s and women’s singles champions in 2024

While the French Open is in full swing in Paris, with the champions to be determined by the end of next week, tickets for the 2025 US Open are now on sale.

Although the tennis tournament doesn’t start playing in New York City until Aug. 18 with qualifying matches, fans can secure their spot for any of the days during the three-week tournament.

Starting Friday, May 30, individual tickets became open to the public following an American Express presale, which granted members early access on Tuesday and Wednesday of this week.

As of Friday, a pair of courtside tickets to the men’s singles final at Arthur Ashe Stadium on Sept. 7 was listed for $60,503 — or $30,251 each — via VividSeats, while Ticketmaster had seats listed for $17,422 and higher. Seats for the women’s final on the day before cost as high as $8,619 on VividSeats.

However, these prices are not final, with costs fluctuating as spectators buy out available spaces — even without knowing who among the men’s and women’s brackets will be playing at this year’s tournament or in the final rounds.

According to Sports Illustrated, just days into the 2024 championship, tickets for the men’s final match were as high as $23,000 while the seats for the women’s final were listed for $3,058.

Of course, not every seat — even at the finals — is this costly, particularly for the first and second rounds or for tickets with limited access to the Louis Armstrong Stadium, grandstands or just grounds admission. But for the fans who want a guaranteed spot that is close to the action as some of the biggest names in the sport compete, it seems they’re okay with the splurge.

As for who is playing in the US Open this year, that remains to be determined. In 2024, Jannik Sinner and Aryna Sabalenka were the men’s and women’s singles champions, while both defending title holders Novak Djokovic and Coco Gauff were knocked out in earlier rounds.

Among the four grand slam tournaments (or majors) featured in the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) Tour, the Australian Open handed out titles earlier this year, when the competition unfolded between Jan. 12 and Jan. 26 in Melbourne.

The men’s singles was won by Sinner, the current world No. 1 player, while Madison Keys, who is ranked No. 19, defeated Sabalenka, the current No. 1, for the women’s singles title.

Other notable players in the mix included Iga Świątek, No. 2, Coco Gauff, No. 3, and Naomi Osaka on the women’s side, while Alexander Zverev, No. 2, Carlos Alcaraz, No. 3, and Novak Djokovic, No. 7, competed in the men’s bracket.

At the French Open, the Clay Court Tournament, which is currently underway at Stade Roland Garros, Richard Gasquet retired from professional tennis after losing his final match to Sinner, while Osaka was plagued with injuries leading to her first-round exit.

The men’s and women’s singles champions will be determined Sunday, June 8, and Saturday, June 7, respectively.

The 2025 US Open, a hardcourt tournament, takes place from Monday, Aug. 18 to Saturday, Sept. 7 at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing Meadows–Corona Park, Queens. More information about tickets can be found at USUpen.org.
