It wasn’t purr-suaded.
A bobcat that wandered into a Colorado home appeared unfazed when deputies attempted to lure the giant cat outside using a laser pointer, wild police body camera footage showed.
The stunned officers whipped out a green laser shortly after arriving at the Ken Caryl residence, where they found the wild cat lounging on a shelf behind a television around 5:05 a.m., according to video shared by the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office.
“Yo, guys, look at his thing. Hi kitty kitty,” a male deputy was heard saying on his body cam during the May 22 incident.
“Well, I’m going to see if he chases the laser,” he said before jesting, “I don’t know, cats like lasers.”
The unamused feline remained perfectly still as the deputy waved his pointer around the room.
The homeowner then gently reminded the officer that the four-legged trespasser was “not a normal cat.”
“Cats are all the same, they all like the same thing,” the deputy replied, the video showed.
“Here, little kitty kitty.”
The deputies eventually left after their failed attempt to coax out the whiskered prowler — which left the home on its own about four hours later, resident Amy Shelly told 9News.
She told the outlet that the furry intruder wandered in after she left her door unlatched for her cat, Meatball, a mistake she says she won’t make again.
“You get very relaxed in your daily life, and you leave your doors open for the fresh air or for your pets to come in and out, and you can’t do that,” Shelly said, noting that a bear once entered her garage, and birds have flown into her home.
“There are bears, there are mountain lions, there are bobcats, there are coyotes, and they are attracted to food. Lesson learned.”
