Actor John C. Reilly was all smiles and jokes on the Cannes Film Festival red carpet recently — and he was looking totally stylish to boot.
The legendary performer, 59, was photographed rocking some serious old school style while making an appearance at Cannes for The History of Sound on May 21 — but he didn’t just turn heads for his look. Reilly also took the red carpet walk as an opportunity to goof off and play with the cameras. He was photographed making a few silly poses before getting a bit more serious and then joining a larger group for more pictures.
Later, Reilly made some other appearances for his film Heads or Tails?, in which he plays mid-1800s American showman Buffalo Bill. The film premiered in the Un Certain Regard section of the festival and he dressed in the outlandish style reminiscent of his character. The comedian donned a sleek beige suit with a black kerchief tie and paired it with a very wide brimmed grey hat.
The actor, who is perhaps best known for his work in classic wild comedies like Stepbrothers and Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby, has a couple new projects on the horizon. He will be starring opposite Elizabeth Banks and Juliette Lewis in an upcoming thriller that takes place at a wellness center called DreamQuil, which is currently in post-production. Reilly is also currently working on A Prayer For the Dying, a Norwegian film that was adapted from Stewart O’Nan’s novel of the same name. The project is currently shooting but has yet to announce a release date or a festival run.
Reilly has had an interesting career over the years, between his iconic raunchy comedy run and his unforgettable beginnings in films like Paul Thomas Anderson’s Boogie Nights and Never Been Kissed to his underrated dramatic turns in Chicago and We Need to Talk About Kevin. As usual, we can’t wait to see what he does next.
