Jessica Biel’s sons Silas and Phineas think she’s “lame” but are impressed by her friendship with Matchbox costar John Cena, she revealed on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon

Jessica Biel is friends with a lot of stars — but her kids only care about one.
The actress just finished filming Matchbox, an upcoming Apple Original Film, but her sons Silas, 10, and Phineas, 4, who she shares with husband Justin Timberlake, are less interested in the movie and more interested in one of her costars, she revealed on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.
While appearing on the late-night talk show on Tuesday, May 20, the mom of two, 43, admitted that she is “so lame” to her sons, but “got some cool mom points” by working on Matchbox — and not because it is about the titular Mattel toy car line. Rather, her kids were impressed by her relationship with costar John Cena.
“They love him,” Biel told host Jimmy Fallon. “They love him, and he’s so nice. He’s a lovable dude, and they are just crazy about him.”

And to prove just how “crazy” her sons are about the WWE star, Fallon, 50, brought out an “all about my mom” worksheet that Phineas filled out for Mother’s Day. To complete “my mom is,” the 4-year-old completed the blank with — rather than “an actress” or “a mom” — “John Cena’s friend.”
“I love that kid, c’mon,” Fallon said while showing off the worksheet. An amused Biel, meanwhile, added: “I died.”
“That’s who I am to him,” she said of her younger son, “and I think if John and I ever fall out and we’re not friends anymore, I think I should go find a new family.”
Elsewhere on the Mother’s Day worksheet, Phineas offered up some more funny and sweet responses, writing that his mom is “12 years old” and that she has “blue” eyes. (Biel’s eyes are green, the actress noted.)

She also revealed that, though her friendship with Cena gives her “cool points,” her kids do not think she is a particularly “cool” person.
“Do your kids know how cool their parents are?” Fallon asked, to which the Blade: Trinity star replied, “No. Not at all. No, Jimmy.”
“Well,” she clarified, “I think they think Justin’s kind of cool ’cause the music element, and like, he’s Daddy. I am so lame to them.”

And, after Fallon insisted that “that is not true,” she offered evidence. “Let me tell you,” Biel said, “the new phrase for my 4-year-old is, ‘Mom, you have the worst ideas.’ I’m like, are we … we’re already there.”

Her oldest, meanwhile, is feeling a new need for space, she revealed.
“Silas is like, ‘Don’t engage, Mom. Back up off the field.’ He’s playing baseball now,” she told Fallon. “He’s like, ‘Don’t say anything. Back up.’ I’m like, ‘I just said good job.’ Like, ‘Say nothing. Say nothing.’ ”

Outside of baseball, Silas is also newly into DJing, Biel recently shared — and he likes to use some of his dad’s songs.
While speaking with E! News about her new Amazon Prime TV series, The Better Sister, Biel said the 10-year-old “definitely has some interest in acting and music. He’s just getting that kind of confidence and kind of his own attitude is coming out.”
“He’s an aspiring DJ and DJ’d his own 10th birthday party,” the proud mom told the outlet. “He was working his party, and it was so fun. He mixes things from Jackson 5 to Justin to old school stuff, doo-wop stuff, I mean everything.”
