System of a Down, the hard rock band that emerged straight out of Glendale, Calif., in 1994, is still making noise and shocking crowds, as evidenced from footage from their recent dates in Brazil.

On their Wake Up! South American Stadium Tour, the band played at Autódromo de Interlagos in São Paulo on May 14 and Allianz Parque in São Paulo on May 10 and 11.

The band recently shared footage by their Brazilian dates and it looks completely bonkers, with smoking flares and torches going off all over the massive moshing crowd.

They captioned the video shot by Clemente Ruiz, “This is not a war zone, this is not a riot, this is a System Of A Down style Rock & Roll concert in Brazil!!!!!!!” – @DaronMalakian,” reads the caption, featuring a quote from the band’s guitarist and second vocalist.

In the clip posted on May 16 on X (formerly Twitter), Malakian can be heard saying, “If you notice, we don’t have pyro on the stage, but our fans bring the f—king fire! Back there! Over there! Over here!”

Fans gave their approval to the chaotic scene in the comments.

“This is what I imagine Heaven to look like,” wrote one.

“I was there. It was glorious. Not the loneliest day of my life,” added another, who included a photo shot from the crowd.

“Did they have people strategically placed holding those up? Or did fans actually come in with them??” another fan asked.

“Fans smuggled them in. There was frisking at the entrance but Brazil is a different beast,” another responded.

When another fan asked for a video from the crowd, one responded with a clip along with the explanation, “Don’t want to doxx anyone so here’s one without too many faces visible.”

Another clip posted on X on May 14 shows a similar scene.

The band is set to kick off a run of U.S. stadium dates beginning with shows on Aug. 27 and 28 at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, followed by a pair of shows at Soldier Field in Chicago on Aug. 31 and Sept. 1, and wrapping with two shows at Rogers Stadium in Toronto on Sept. 3 and 5.
