Valerie Bertinelli recently gave her followers a peek into her personal history after observant fans noticed an intriguing blue box in one of her recent Instagram post. The actress and author, 65, sparked online curiosity when a selfie she posted featured a blue box in the corner. Curious fans sent the star a number of questions about what the box might contain.

By Tuesday, May 20th, Bertinelli decided to address the inquiries directly. “I went out Saturday night (I know, who am I? 😂) posted a pic and got a lot of questions about the little blue box on the bottom right, so I thought I’d open it for you,” she captioned a new Instagram post. The update began with the initial mirror selfie, where Bertinelli was dressed in a tan sweater, black pants, and brown over-the-knee boots. Positioned near her in the photo was the distinct blue box, which, upon closer inspection in the new post, bore the recognizable Barbie logo.

Up next was a video revealing the box’s contents. Accompanied by Billie Eilish’s Oscar-winning song “What Was I Made For?” from the Barbie movie, the clip showed Bertinelli opening the vintage tin. Inside, she displayed a collection of her childhood Barbie dolls and a variety of their accessories.

During the video tour of the box, the Food Network personality showcased several vintage dolls and their miniature outfits. One item, a red and white collared doll dress, clearly held special significance. “My mom made this,” Bertinelli explained while holding it towards the camera, indicating its sentimental importance as a handmade piece from her childhood. Another compartment within the case housed additional small doll clothes and a baby doll, further illustrating the nature of the collection.

To emphasize the personal connection to these items, Bertinelli also shared the video on her Instagram Stories, accompanied by a simple graphic stating, “Childhood memories.”

Fans took to the comments to write about their childhood Barbie collection,. “Omg!! Knew right away, exactly what it was!! I had the same one and the same Barbie,” one Instagram user posted. “My parents got divorced, my mom had issues and I have no idea what happened to mine!!😢 BTW, you looked hot for your Saturday night out!!”

“I still have some of my original Barbie clothes that I passed on to my daughter and many my Nana knitted when I couldn’t afford them,” someone else wrote.

“An irreplaceable connection with and to your mom,” another wrote of the childhood keepsake. “ So simple and yet so profound.”
