How Scarlett Johansson Got Her Revenge on Michael Che After That Viral ‘SNL’ Joke Swap

This past Saturday marked the end of the landmark 50th season of Saturday Night Live. But, more importantly, it was also the night Scarlett Johansson finally got her revenge on Michael Che. And, oh, what sweet revenge it was.

Scarlett hosted the season finale of SNL on Saturday, May 17, and took the opportunity to join her husband, Colin Jost, and Michael at the Weekend Update desk for their season finale Joke Swap. “Before I tell another joke, I want to take this opportunity to apologize to someone I hurt. Scarlett, can you come out here?” Michael said. “You know, last time we did Joke Swap, I made Colin do some tasteless jokes comparing your vagina to Costco roast beef. Well, the fact is, I was just lashing out because I’m jealous. I’ve never seen a human vagina.” He later turned to Colin, saying, “Colin, I’m sorry, too, because I owe you everything.”

In case you forgot, the original offense took place back in December, during Colin and Michael’s traditional holiday Joke Swap, when Michael made Colin read a particularly unsettling joke at his wife’s expense: “Costco has removed the roast beef sandwich from its menu. But I ain’t trippin’. I’ve been eating roast beef every night since my wife had the kid.” A camera captured Scarlett’s stunned reaction behind the scenes as Colin continued. “No, no, I’m just playin’ baby. You know I don’t go downtown.”

During an appearance on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, Colin said that while his wife had been warned that Michael might make a small joke about her vagina, she wasn’t prepared for what she heard—which was pretty obvious by her reaction.“I was like, ‘Wow, you really are seventh, eighth-grade boys,” she recently told Vanity Fair of the jab. “I feel like it’s almost my responsibility to come up with some way to burn Michael back. Retaliation, I’d say, should be expected.”

So, now that retaliation has been awarded and apologies have been made, I only have one question for Michael Che: Where is our apology for having to sit through that awful joke in the first place?
