Jelly Roll brought out Detroit rapper Eminem during a performance in — where else? — Detroit.

On Sunday, May 18, the “Without Me” rapper surprised the audience at Jelly and Post Malone’s concert at Ford Field part of their Big Ass Stadium Tour.

At one point that evening, Jelly, 40, began performing Eminem’s classic “Lose Yourself.” The rapper, 52, then took the stage for the final verse with Jelly for an electric performance of the 2002 song.

“Detroit, what up?! Make some noise for Jelly Roll!” Eminem told the audience before exiting the stage. “Long time, no see. I love y’all. Peace!”

Following Eminem’s surprise appearance, Jelly said, per Billboard, “If you can’t tell, that was a childhood dream come f––ing true, Detroit. This is the greatest show I’ve ever had in my f––ing life.” He added that Slim Shady’s music helped him “through the darkest moments of my life.”

“Detroit thanks for showing my friend @jellyroll615 so much love!!! 🙏 great to see y’all,” Eminem captioned their joint Instagram post on Monday, May 19. Jelly and Eminem previously collaborated for the 2024 song “Somebody Save Me” from the rapper’s 2024 LP The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grâce).

Upon releasing their 2024 collaboration, Jelly raved about Slim Shady. “I always say my childhood heroes lived somewhere between Willie Nelson and Eminem. As a teenager (and still today) I could recite every song on the Slim Shady album, the Marshal Mathers album and the Eminem show,” he wrote on Instagram in July.

“When I bonded out of jail at 17 years old and was sneaking into cyphers and battles in Nashville they would also play the ‘lose yourself’ beat when I came out on stage at the freestyle battles,” he continued, recalling his own experience being incarcerated.

“I related to every word Eminem wrote. I understand him and felt like he understood me, which was rare cause I spent most of my life feeling misunderstood.

“So you can imagine how I felt when I got that the call that Eminem would be sampling my song ‘Save Me’ on his new album. And for him to use the song to discuss the other side of what could’ve happened if he would’ve allowed his demons to win brought me to tears.”

Jelly and Eminem also teamed up in 2024 to perform “Sing for the Moment” during the  Live From Detroit: The Concert at Michigan Central event.
