After stepping away from music for more than a decade, Jessica Simpson, 44, made her comeback to music with the release of her album Nashville Canyon: Part 1 in March.
She reached another music milestone on Sunday, May 18, when she took the stage to perform on TV for the first time in 15 years as she helped celebrate the season finale of American Idol, which crowned Jamal Roberts the latest winner.

When American Idol shared footage of the performance on the show’s official Instagram post, fans showed up to cheer Simpson on.
“Honestly she’s never sounded better,” one commenter wrote.
Another fan added, “Wow, I never knew she sounded so good live. She’s still got it and back on stage better than ever.”
Even King commented on the post, mentioning just how grateful he was to have shared the stage with Simpson. “It was an absolute honor to perform with Jessica!!!” he wrote.
It’s been a big year for Simpson. Before the release of her new EP, she confirmed her separation from husband Eric Johnson, with whom she shares kids Maxwell, Ace, and Birdie.
Her next EP, Nashville Canyon: Part 2, is expected to arrive soon.
