Scott Adams, creator of the comic strip “Dilbert,” has announced that he has prostate cancer, one day after it was revealed that former President Joe Biden has the same disease.

The cartoonist, 67, revealed his diagnosis on Monday, May 19, during an episode of his web show Real Coffee with Scott Adams.

While discussing Biden’s recent diagnosis, Adams said, “I also have prostate cancer that has spread to my bones,” adding that he believes his own life expectancy is “maybe the summer.”

Adams told the audience that pain caused by the disease is “intolerable” and that he does not have any “good days.”

“Every day is a nightmare, and evening is even worse,” he explained, noting that he stopped doing certain things at night due to how the disease impacts his body.

He added, “I’m in pain and I’m always in pain, and the pain moves around to different parts of my body. I’ve been using a walker to walk for months now.”

Also on the web show, Adams extended his “respect and compassion and sympathy to the ex-President and his family.”

“They’re going to be going through an especially tough time,” Adams said, adding that “it’s going to get very painful for the president.”

Biden’s cancer “appears to be hormone sensitive, which allows for effective management,” according to the statement released by his press office on Sunday, May 18.

The former president was diagnosed with the “aggressive” form of cancer on Friday, May 16, and is “reviewing treatment options with his physicians” alongside family.

During Monday’s web show, Adams said he was “looking for the right time” to tell his audience about his diagnosis when news of Biden’s diagnosis came out.

“I thought to myself, ‘You know what? I’m going to slide under his story and he’s going to take away a lot of the attention because, you know, [he is the] ex-President.’ It would just be a little bit easier for me to tag on to that,” he admitted.

Adams created the “Dilbert” comic strip in 1989. The strip was dropped by hundreds of newspapers in 2023 after the right-wing cartoonist made several racist remarks, including calling Black Americans a “hate group” and encouraging white people to “get the hell away” from them, according to The Guardian and CNN.

Additionally, in June 2020, Adams stated in a post on X (then known as Twitter) that the Dilbert animated television series was “the third job I lost for being white.”

And in January 2022, Adams tweeted that he would “self-identify as a Black woman until Biden picks his Supreme Court nominee.”
