Get your string swimsuit and neon sunglasses out because Spring Breakers is back, baby! No, the 2013 film isn’t coming back to theaters again, it’s actually way better news: a Spring Breakers sequel is coming. Tentatively titled Spring Breakers: Salvation Mountain, the sequel is currently in development and being shopped around Cannes, so we don’t know much about the plot. We do, however, have a main cast to start obsessing over. Here’s everything we know about Spring Breakers 2.
What will Spring Breakers: Salvation Mountain be about?
According to the official announcement, Spring Breakers: Salvation Mountain will follow four “rebellious girls” who decide to go on a road trip for spring break. “When their trip explodes out of control, they’re forced to outrun the chaos they’ve created,” reads the synopsis, per Variety.
The team behind the film also released a teaser poster, which features four neon sign emojis—a palm tree, water drops, a gun, and a bitten lip. Please make of that what you will.
Who is in the Spring Breakers 2 cast?
Bella Thorne, Ariel Martin, Grace Van Dien, and True Whitaker will star in Spring Breakers: Salvation Mountain. Their official roles and character descriptions have yet to be released, but it’s clear that Spring Breakers 2 is following in the footsteps of the first film by casting former Disney Channel stars. (The original starred Selena Gomez, Ashley Benson, Vanessa Hudgens, and Rachel Korine.)
Bella Thorne is, of course, starred opposite Zendaya in Shake It Up and Ariel Martin (aka Baby Ariel) appeared in Zombies 2. Meanwhile, True Whitaker and Grace Van Dien are more unknowns, though Grace did have a memorable role in Stranger Things season 4. (She played Chrissy the doomed cheerleader.)

Is Spring Breakers 2 connected to Spring Breakers?
As far as I can tell, Salvation Mountain is going to be more of a spiritual sequel than a direct continuation of the story. Spring Breakers writer director Harmony Korine does not appear to be involved in the film, nor do any of its stars (though that could change). Instead, Matthew Bright will be taking over as director.
When will Spring Breakers: Salvation Mountain be released?
Sadly, the sequel is still in pre-production and doesn’t yet have a release date. However, if it does get financing at Cannes, then I’m guessing filmmakers will try to aim for a 2026 or 2027 spring release. But don’t hold your breath. A sequel to Spring Breakers was first announced way back in 2014. That film, Spring Breakers: The Second Coming, would have followed a group of spring breakers battling an extremist Christian sect, but never made it to production.
