The Vampire Diaries and The Originals are about to have a crossover — at a wedding!
Candice King and Steven Krueger starred as vampires Caroline Forbes and Josh Rosza in the CW’s hit TV show The Vampire Diaries and its spinoff series The Originals, respectively. On Wednesday, May 14, King announced via a post on Instagram that she and Krueger are engaged — and have been for “a couple of weeks.”
“I think 38 just might be my favorite year yet 🎂 ♥️ ,” King, who turned 38 on May 13, began her post.

She continued: “A couple of weeks ago @stevenakrueger gave me the best gift of all when he asked me to marry him. The privilege of getting older is much sweeter knowing I get to share it with you Steven. Thank you for asking me to dance through life with you. And thank you to everyone for the kind birthday wishes x.”
The actress shared six “sweet” engagement photos taken by Catherine Powell Stone at their “fave” cocktail bar Martha My Dear in Nashville. In the photos, Krueger, 35, wears a black suit while King looks bridal in a white satin mini dress with a dainty bow at the waist. Her left-hand ring finger sparkles with a new piece of jewelry — a square-shaped diamond engagement ring.
In all of the pictures, the couple each holds a glass of what appears to be an old fashioned cocktail. Their photographer wrote on her Instagram Story, “You get one guess on what the official wedding cocktail is going to be💍.”
Congratulations flooded the comments section, with the official Vampire Diaries account even leaving three emojis to show its approval of the union: “🖤🖤🖤.”
“Congratulations 🥰🥰😍🥰🥰😍,” fellow bride-to-be and The Vampire Diaries alum Nina Dobrev commented. She played King’s character’s best friend Elena Gilbert in the drama series.

“Woo Hoo!!!! Love IT! ❤️🤍❤️🤍,” wrote Michael Trevino, who starred in The Vampire Diaries as one of King’s love interests, Tyler Lockwood.
Riley Voelkel, who starred as Freya Mikaelson in The Originals, commented, “Omg screaming!!!! So happy for you both!!!! 🥰🥰🥰❤️❤️❤️.”
Other celebrities including The Vampire Diaries alum Scarlett Hefner, I Know What You Did Last Summer star Jennifer Love Hewitt, Glee alum Jenna Ushkowitz and The Bachelorette alum Hannah Brown congratulated the couple.

King and the Yellowjackets star made their relationship Instagram official on Dec. 27, 2023, when King posted her 2023 recap montage. She included clips of herself dancing, vacationing and having fun with friends and family. But the video also included a video of King kissing Krueger.
“I laughed. I cried. I laughed til I cried. I loved,” she captioned the post. “Thanks for the dance 2023 🥂.”
King was previously married to The Fray guitarist Joe King. The former pair, who tied the knot in 2014 before splitting in 2022, share daughters Florence and Josephine.
