Best friends and roommates Jaz and Nesha are beginning their weight-loss journey together
Jaz’s doctor warns that if she doesn’t lose weight she might not “survive for long” while Nesha expresses hesitation about her ability to get her health on track

Losing weight can be tough — that’s why these two women are trying to tackle it together.
Best friends Jasmine aka “Jaz” and Nesha — who are so close that they actually live together — are hoping to reclaim their health in a new TLC series, 1000-Lb. Roomies, PEOPLE announces exclusively.
In the trailer for the upcoming series, the pair immediately show off their vibrant personalities by joking that they’re “fat hotties with the bodies.”
“We’re roommates,” Nesha says. “We’re both a little extra. Nearly 1,000 pounds extra.”
“The only thing we love more than food in this world is my daughter Nana,” Jaz adds.

Jaz explains that they’ve attempted a number of weight loss tricks in the past with no success. The clip even shows them trying a sea moss drink before gagging and screaming at the taste of it.
“We’ve tried so many things to lose weight… but now it’s time to get busy,” Jaz says. “I’m all my daughter has. I have to be here for her.”
However, Jaz gets a tough wake-up call when her surgeon Dr. Sarvenaz Nouri warns she needs to lose a significant amount of weight to undergo bariatric surgery.
“If Jasmine doesn’t undergo the surgery, most likely she will not survive for long,” Nouri says in a confessional.
“Surgery is something that scares the f— out of me,” Jaz admits.
Jaz then tells Nesha that losing weight would be a lot easier if she were to come on the journey with her. “I want to lose weight, but that doesn’t mean I have to be stuck on the scale all the time,” Nesha says.

Later in the season, Jaz also faces a health scare as she’s brought to tears while dealing with pain in her leg.
“I’m in pain… it’s everywhere,” she cries before the trailer shows her being taken in an ambulance. “I am in so much pain. I’m really trying my best to hold on.”
“Nesha, I’m scared,” Jaz tells her on FaceTime from the hospital. “What if I’m never gonna be able to walk again?”
“I don’t know what happened to her, but I know that it’s a wake up call,” Nesha says in tears.
The series premiere of 1000-Lb. Roomies airs Tuesday, June 10 at 10pm ET/PT on TLC.
